Notre Dame graduate transfer quarterback Brandon Wimbush will transfer to UCF he announced on Tuesday.
He will be eligible to play next season for the Knights because he graduated from Notre Dame.
Wimbush was the starter for Notre Dame for the 2017 season and the start of the 2018 season before being benched for Ian Book.
He compiled a 14-3 record as a starter at Notre Dame and was able to account for 2,606 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in his career. Wimbush also totaled 1,156 rushing yards in his career and 16 touchdowns.
The transfer comes as a surprise as UCF will have McKenzie Milton and Darriel Mack still on their roster at the position. Milton suffered a leg injury in the last regular season game against USF and his status is questionable for the start of the season. Mack filled in nicely, helping UCF to win the AAC Championship Game and play LSU close in the Peach Bowl.
UCF has lost one game over the last two seasons and will try to keep the momentum going into the 2019 season.
