Melty Blood: Type Lumina Release Date

Melty Blood: Type Lumina Release Date

The latest entry in the Melty Blood franchise arrives soon. Melty Blood: Type Lumina features new and returning characters in the series, with refined gameplay mechanics and state-of-the-art netcode. Type Lumina release week has been highly anticipated by the anime FGC as it begins a new era of Melty Blood. Here is a look at the Melty Blood: Type Lumina Release Date.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina releases at the end of September, just in time for fighting game tournaments like NEC and The Pit. Though Melty Blood typically has more of a side game presence at events, the latest entry in the series looks to push Type Lumina to the forefront of the FGC.

In a year mostly devoid of fighting game releases, only Guilty Gear Strive truly changed the landscape of the community. Anime fighting games never had a reputation in esports like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. However, general interest shifted recently thanks to the success of games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Strive.

It is clear to see that the recent interest spike in MBAACC will be carried over into Type Lumina. Anime players like Fame96Tempest and DEB have talked about their excitement to try the new game. Community figurehead Majin Obama even recently held an MBAACC exhibition in Japan.

While Melty Blood continues to pick up steam, event organizers are eager to get their attendees in on the action.

Frosty Faustings is one of the Midwest’s most well-known fighting game events. Though Frosty Faustings 2020 was online-only, the full event returns next year with Type Lumina already on the game lineup.

Another Chicago-based tournament series, Low Kick Esports announced an October schedule with weekly offline tournaments for Type Lumina.

Previously known as AnimEVO, Vortex Gallery tweeted about a special Type Lumina exhibition on October 2. The four-on-four event features competitors from the United States and Japan thanks to Type Lumina’s rollback netcode.

While players wait for Type Lumina’s release, weekly character announcements dropped on the game’s official Twitter page. Though only returning characters received trailers initially, newcomers Noel and Vlov recently joined the Type Lumina roster.

Despite only having a fraction of the roster size that MBAACC features, Type Lumina seems to have a good variety in character archetypes. While only time will tell who is the strongest of the new game’s roster, competitors like SonicFox have already scouted out who they want to try first in TL.

New fighting game releases are an excellent chance for players and spectators alike to get into the genre, and Type Lumina is no different. Melty Blood’s return this week should prove to be an exciting time for fighting game fans in 2021 and beyond.
