Underrated and Risky Fantasy WRs Going Into Week 8

With Week 8 on the horizon, let’s take a look at some underrated and risky fantasy football wide receiver options for this week. You can also check out my full fantasy football wide receiver rankings for Week 8.

Underrated Fantasy Wide Receiver Options for Week 8:

Carnell Tate:

Tate is coming off a solid game against the Browns, where he caught five passes for 69 yards in the Titans‘ narrow 27-24 loss. This week, Tennessee will go on the road to face the Bengals, who currently have the 23rd-ranked pass defense in the league, allowing 230 passing yards per game.

Tate has clearly been the focal point of the Titans’ passing attack in recent weeks, and I’m predicting he’ll have a strong performance against a Bengals defense that hasn’t exactly shut down opposing receivers this season. I’d consider Tate an underrated option for Week 8.

Stefon Diggs:

After the season-ending injury to Terry McLaurin, Diggs finds himself taking on more responsibility within the Commanders‘ receiving corps. Both Diggs and Antonio Williams should be quarterback Jayden Daniels’ top targets for the remainder of the season, and I think they should both find some success against a banged-up Eagles squad.

The Eagles have the 26th-ranked passing defense, and the Commanders are coming into this Sunday Night Football matchup fresh off a bye. With Philadelphia’s offense struggling in recent weeks since Jalen Hurts has been out, I think the Commanders will have a good chance to capitalize at home, and Diggs should be considered an underrated wide receiver option this week.

Risky Fantasy Wide Receiver Options for Week 8:

Luther Burden III:

Burden had his best game of the season in Week 7 against the Patriots, catching four passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. Burden has been one of Caleb Williams’ favorite targets this season and is on pace to have his best season of his young career.

Despite carrying some momentum from last week, the Bears have a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, who completely shut down the Chiefs’ offense on Sunday Night Football. Seattle currently has the No. 1-ranked pass defense in the league, allowing just 144.4 yards per game, so I’d consider starting Burden a risky move in fantasy this week.

Ladd McConkey:

The Chargers have had one of the worst starts to a season in franchise history, as they are currently 0-6 and still searching for their first victory. They have a tough matchup against a strong Rams squad that, while only 3-4, has a talented roster on paper and will be eager to stack wins in a very competitive NFC West.

The Rams also have the fourth-ranked pass defense in the league, holding opponents to 186.3 passing yards per game. They have a strong trio of cornerbacks, headlined by All-Pro Trent McDuffie and standout cover corners Jaylen Watson and Josh Wallace.

McConkey and the Chargers have had a rough start to the year, especially on the offensive side of the ball, but things may get even tougher against this talented Rams secondary.
