Underrated and Risky Fantasy WRs Going Into Week 6

With Week 6 on the horizon, let’s take a look at some underrated and risky fantasy football wide receiver options for this week. You can also check out my full fantasy football wide receiver rankings for Week 6.

Underrated Fantasy Wide Receiver Options for Week 6:

Mike Evans:

Mike Evans was on my risky fantasy wide receivers list for Week 5 and proved me wrong, as he was one of Purdy’s favorite targets during the 49ers‘ heavyweight battle with the Seahawks, catching seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Evans dominated in one-on-one matchups and has managed to put up solid numbers over the past few weeks despite nursing a rib injury. The 49ers play the Commanders at home on Monday Night Football in Week 6, and with Deebo Samuel’s hamstring injury keeping him out of action for the next few weeks and the 49ers’ thinning receiver depth, Evans will be relied upon heavily in the coming weeks. Evans should be considered a fantasy starter and one of the more underrated receivers for Week 6.

Marvin Harrison Jr.:

I debated whether to put Harrison Jr. on the risky or underrated list, but I’m sticking with the underrated option because I think Harrison Jr. has the talent and skill to contribute right away, especially considering his past experience and connection with C.J. Stroud from their Ohio State days. Unlike Evans, who has been a consistent fantasy option this year, Harrison Jr. has been the opposite, hauling in just five passes for 85 yards and a touchdown in four games this season. In most leagues, Harrison Jr. might be on the bench, but I’d consider potentially trading for him while his value is low or starting him this week as he’s an underrated option to begin his Texans era.

DK Metcalf:

Metcalf has been extremely streaky this season, sometimes disappearing during games and other times looking like an elite threat alongside his quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Starting Metcalf still carries risk, but with injuries to Michael Pittman and Roman Wilson, Metcalf will be relied upon heavily as the WR1 and should be considered an underrated fantasy option this week as the Steelers‘ offense, which has been in good form, goes on the road against the Buccaneers.

Risky Fantasy Wide Receiver Options for Week 6:

Michael Wilson:

Wilson and the Cardinals are going on the road in Week 6 to face their divisional rivals, the LA Rams. After the Cardinals’ shocking decision to trade Marvin Harrison Jr., more focus will be on Wilson to lead the Cardinals’ wide receiver room. That may be difficult, as the Rams have the second-best passing defense in the league, allowing just 156.8 passing yards per game. The Rams will be hungry to get back in the win column after their heartbreaking overtime loss to the Bills last week, and I’d consider Wilson a risky starting receiver option for fantasy this week.

Garrett Wilson:

Garrett Wilson has been one of the top fantasy wide receivers throughout the season and is coming off another strong game against the Browns, where he had seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. His production might lessen this week as the Jets go on the road to face the Patriots, who are in great form after scoring 45 points last week and could also get their star cornerback Christian Gonzalez back. Gonzalez versus Wilson would make for some incredible football, and due to Wilson’s strong numbers this season, most fantasy managers will likely start him, but I’d consider him a risky option for Week 6.
