Let’s take a look at some underrated and risky fantasy football quarterback options going into Week 6 of the NFL season. You can also check out my full fantasy football quarterback rankings for Week 6 here.
Jordan Love:
Jordan Love and the Packers are coming off a much-needed dominant performance against their divisional rivals, the Chicago Bears, convincingly beating them 31-7 at Lambeau Field. The Packers have had a rocky start to the season but now find themselves at 3-2 and in second place in the NFC North. Their offense was firing on all cylinders against the Bears, and they have an even better matchup in Week 6 against a Cowboys defense that has been decimated all season.
Despite their solid offense, the Cowboys’ defense ranks 31st in total yards allowed per game (395.4) and 32nd in points allowed per game (30.1). Love is coming off a great game in which he threw for 367 yards and two touchdowns, and fantasy owners should be starting him in what is an extremely favorable matchup at home for the Packers.
Bryce Young:
The Panthers are back after their bye week in Week 5 and have a favorable matchup against a banged-up Eagles team. The Eagles announced Thursday that Jalen Hurts will miss the Week 6 contest as he’s dealing with a blood clot in his calf, and the statuses of Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith are also unclear heading into Sunday.
With the Eagles dealing with numerous injuries and the Panthers’ offense playing well, Bryce Young could find success on the road. Young is coming off a dominant Sunday Night Football performance in Week 4, where his connection with Tetairoa McMillan was unstoppable. Young and McMillan will look to keep that momentum going this week, and fantasy managers should consider Young one of the more underrated starting QBs for Week 6.
Drake Maye:
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is coming off one of the best games of his young career, throwing for 374 yards and four touchdowns against the Raiders. The Patriots’ offense couldn’t be stopped all game, and they finished the contest with a total of 45 points scored. After some underwhelming performances on the offensive side of the football through the first three weeks, the Patriots have significantly improved on offense and now host the New York Jets in Week 6. After last week’s performance, Maye is definitely one of the more underrated QB options for this week and should be considered for your lineup.
Jayden Daniels:
Jayden Daniels made his return to the Commanders‘ offense last week in what was a thrilling contest against the New York Giants that ended in a tie after overtime. Daniels and the team are facing significant scrutiny for their horrible clock management at the end of overtime, which resulted in time running out before the Commanders could attempt a potentially game-winning field goal.
With plenty of eyes on the Commanders’ offense after last week’s blunder and a tough matchup against one of the NFL’s best defenses in the 49ers, Daniels is a risky QB option for Week 6. Daniels did rush for over 100 yards and two touchdowns last week, but I’d be surprised if he keeps that going in a tough matchup on Monday Night Football this week.
Bo Nix:
Bo Nix and the Broncos have been one of the streakier teams in the NFL this season, with their record currently sitting at 3-2. All three of their wins have come by one score or less, and they scraped out a gritty 23-17 victory against the 0-5 Chargers last week. Nix had an underwhelming performance, throwing for 123 yards and a single touchdown, and it’ll get much tougher this week against a strong Seahawks defense on Thursday Night Football to open Week 6. Nix is already in the lower echelon of fantasy starters this year, but he’s definitely a risky QB option for fantasy this week.
