Let’s take a look at some underrated and risky fantasy football quarterback options going into Week 4 of the NFL season. You can also check out my full fantasy football quarterback rankings for Week 4 here.
Kyler Murray:
Kyler Murray made his return from injury in Week 3 in the Vikings’ 23-16 win against the Buccaneers. Murray looked solid and finished with 168 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. While his stats don’t jump off the page, he helped lead the Vikings out to an early lead in his first complete start with Minnesota.
Things should get easier for Murray this week, as he and the Vikings will face the 0-3 Miami Dolphins, who are reeling at the moment after star running back De’Von Achane tore his ACL last week and was ruled out for the season. The Vikings defense has been one of the best units to start the season and will face one of the weaker offenses in the Dolphins, especially with Achane out. The Vikings should have an easier time at home against the Dolphins, and I expect Murray to have his best fantasy numbers of the season so far in Week 4.
Sam Darnold:
Sam Darnold was on my Week 3 list for underrated fantasy performers, and despite the Seahawks’ loss to the Commanders on the road, Darnold had a strong fantasy return with 379 passing yards and four touchdowns. I’m expecting Darnold to keep his rhythm going now that he’s back from injury, with the Seahawks facing the 0-3 Chargers at home in Week 4.
After a rough start to the 2026 season, I expect the Chargers to come out with some extra fire and determination to win, which could make for a truly exciting game. I think this Week 4 matchup has the potential for a high-scoring shootout and for Darnold to keep his momentum going as an underrated fantasy QB option this week.
Brock Purdy:
Despite Purdy being one of the top fantasy quarterbacks through three weeks and a serious contender for league MVP, I’m predicting that Purdy could find some trouble in the 49ers’ Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are coming off an impressive and gritty win against the Rams on Sunday Night Football in Week 3 and will now go up against the 3-0 49ers, who have been dominant to start the year.
Purdy has nine passing touchdowns and just one interception to start the year, but I think the Broncos will be the 49ers’ toughest challenge yet. Although Purdy and the 49ers could certainly prove me wrong and continue their excellent form in Week 4, I think the Broncos’ elite defense may challenge the 49ers’ offense and stifle a team that’s scored 25+ points in each of its first three games this season.
Dak Prescott:
Lastly, I’m listing Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott as a risky fantasy option in Week 4 as the Cowboys face a hungry Texans squad on the road. The Cowboys are coming off a brutal 34-31 loss to the Ravens in Brazil in Week 3 and will be eager to get back into the win column. They won’t be any more eager than the Texans, who have started the season 0-3 and will be looking to get their first win of the season at home at NRG Stadium.
Although the Texans and their high-level defense haven’t gotten off to the start they’d hoped, their defense has held opponents to 20 or fewer points in each of the past two weeks and could still limit Prescott’s fantasy performance. Despite the Cowboys’ pass-heavy style of offense, I think Prescott is a risky option this week against a dangerous Texans secondary and with Houston hunting for its first win of the season.
