The fantasy football season has finally kicked off! After a long offseason, fantasy managers have finally seen their roster in action. The first few weeks are over and the dust has settled. Plenty of teams are sizing up their rosters and looking ahead to Week 3. Most of the time, people want to make some waiver wire moves but not necessarily rock the boat.
Then there are some managers that are hoping to make big moves right away with a trade.

For the new managers out there, trading away players is one of the tougher things to do in fantasy. It impacts two teams in ways that not everyone is able to see right away, and it can be scary to trade away someone you think could be kinda good. But when you do need to make that critical roster move, here is how you get it done on ESPN.
The first step is a big one. On ESPN users have to go to their opponents team in order to propose a trade. The image below is from the ESPN web page and players can find the button in the top right on the picture.
For mobile users, which is probably the majority of people, they can also find the “propose trade” button on an opposing teams page. But it will look a little something like this.
Much easier to find!
Now for the most stressful part of the transaction: picking the players you want to trade. After you initiate the trade proposal, ESPN will bring you to the opposing teams roster where you will be able to select which players you want. You always start by selecting the players you want to receive.
After you pick the players you want to grab, you then need to select the players you’re willing to send away. You know which players are picked, because the “trade” button will be highlighted.
Once both sides of the trade are set, select the “Review” button in the top right. This “Review” screen gives you a chance to look over the trade that you just crafted. It serves as a buffer between creating the draft and just sending it over.
This screen is pretty sweet as it tries to analyze the trade for both parties. It can also be a used as a bargaining chip for making the trade happen.
Once you have the trade that will for sure save your team after a rocky Week 1, it’s time to slam that “submit” button. Hitting that button sends the trade offer to your trade partner, where it will go to their “Pending Transaction” section. It’s now up to them to hit the “Accept” button to make the trade happen.
While they are mulling it over, it’s important to talk it over with the other owner in the trade. People are more likely to consider your trade if you at least try to make a conversation about it. Sometimes you can convince them to accept when it is heavily in your favor. And of course sometimes they won’t budge. But you never know until you try!
That’s all there is to it really. Making trades on ESPN is relatively painless and easy. It helps you along the way as well, so go out there and start wheeling and dealing!
