Fantasy Football Week 9 Quarterback Rankings

Publish Date: October 28, 2025

The 2025-26 NFL season is underway which means we are in the thick of fantasy football season! The fantasy landscape has already changed since the preseason due to breakout players and major injuries across the league. Bye weeks are starting to take place. This means that quarterbacks like Jalen Hurts and Baker Mayfield will be out this week. It would be irresponsible to start a player with a rough matchup over a player with a more favorable one that is ranked or projected to perform similarly. Here are fantasy football Week 9 quarterback rankings.

[Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to Injured Reserve List]

[Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week]

Key:

Must Start- a player who should definitely be in your lineup that week because of the combination of matchup and talent. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and could repeat the production most weeks.

Starter- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.

Low-End Starter- a player who should be started in most lineups but can possibly bottom out and finish below average on a given week. A high ceiling play in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.

Streamer- a player who could be a perfect replacement for a starter for a week or two. Starting this player may not win you your lineup but they will make sure that your production out of that position will not lose you your matchup either. Also a viable option in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.

Deep League Streamer- a player who could fill a void at a position in a deeper league. Their ceiling may be close to average point production at the position but their floor is enough to get through the week. A reasonable player to have in your lineup in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.

Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday

QB3 Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson has missed the past three games with a hamstring injury. Early reports are saying that Jackson should return this week. If Jackson misses Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins Tyler Huntley becomes the QB23 between J.J. McCarthy and Geno Smith.

QB4 Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels missed last week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a hamstring injury. It is not concerned a long-term injury. So Daniels could return this week.. If Daniels misses Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks Marcus Mariota becomes QB19 between Trevor Lawerence and Bo Nix.

QB12 Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray has missed the past two games with a foot injury. At this point it is unclear if Murray will be ready to return after the team’s bye. If Murray misses Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys Jacoby Brissett becomes QB19 between Trevor Lawerence and Bo Nix.

QB14 Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers

Brock Purdy missed the past four games with a toe injury. He is currently considered week-to-week and could return this week. If Purdy misses Week 9 against the New York Giants Mac Jones becomes QB20 between Bo Nix and Tua Tagovailoa.

QB17 Joe Flacco, Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Flacco is currently considered day-to-day with a shoulder injury. It is too early in the week to know the severity of the injury. If Flacco misses Week 9 against the Chicago Bears Jake Browning becomes QB28 below Tyler Shough.

QB24 J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota Vikings

J.J. McCarthy has missed the last five games with an ankle sprain. It is not certain that McCarthy will be cleared to return this week. If McCarthy misses Week 9 against the Detroit Lions Max Brosmer becomes QB26 between Bryce Young and Michael Penix Jr.

QB26 Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young missed last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills with an ankle injury. There is a chance that Young could return this week. If Young misses Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers Andy Dalton becomes QB28 below Tyler Shough.

QB27 Michael Penix Jr., Atlanta Falcons

Michael Penix Jr. missed last week’s game against the Miami Dolphins with a bone bruise in his foot/ankle area. He is considered day-t0-day with the injury. If Penix Jr. misses Week 9 against the New England Patriots Kirk Cousins becomes QB27 between Bryce Young and Tyler Shough.

Players that are currently not expected to play

Carson Wentz, Minnesota Vikings

Carson Wentz was added to Injured Reserve on Monday because of a shoulder injury suffered last week. This will end Wentz’s 2025-26 season. He was playing meaningful football for the first time in a couple of seasons in place of the injured J.J. McCarthy. It is likely that McCarthy returns this week from his injury and undrafted rookie Max Brosmer will likely backup McCarthy for the remainder of the season barring a trade. This will likely end Wentz’s time in Minnesota and could push him towards retirement.

Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints

It was announced on Monday that Tyler Shough will be the new starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. Spencer Rattler has started the first seven games of the season and was benched last week. Rattler had exceeded the low expectations many had for him coming into the year. But at 1-7 New Orleans must find out what they have in 2025 second-round pick Tyler Shough who was drafted to be the quarterback of the future for this team. Rattler will likely be the team’s backup quarterback for the remainder of his tenure in New Orleans.
