Fantasy Football Week 2 Wide Receiver Rankings

Publish Date: September 16, 2021

The 2021-22 NFL season began last week which means so did fantasy football. After getting a taste of the NFL season last week, it is important not to overreact some and make risky moves when setting lineups for this week. For the first few weeks, fantasy managers should pay attention to trends that they see from teams that could shape the rest of the season. Here are fantasy football week 1 wide receiver rankings.

*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to reserve/COVID-19 list*

(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)

Key:

Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.

Starting WR1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.

High WR2- a player who may isn’t likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between WR1 and WR2 category.

Starting WR2- a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started is because of their consistency and moderately high floor

Low WR2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.

Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and causes a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.

Deeper League Flex- a player who has starting value in deeper leagues. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.

Upside Player- a player who is boom or bust. This player can exceed expectations in a given week or could flop and be the reason why someone lost their fantasy matchup.

Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday

WR28 Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Baltimore Ravens

Dating back to last season Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has actually been a reliable fantasy receiver. Brown has scored seven touchdowns in his last seven games. He will not be able to keep up that touchdown production, but he could maintain his target share and role in Baltimore’s offense. He tweaked his ankle during the Monday night game and missed practice Wednesday because of it. If Brown was to miss this game Sammy Watkins would become the Raven’s number one wide receiver and bump up to WR38 between Corey Davis and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Another player to keep an eye on is Devin Duvernay who the Ravens took in the third round last year.

WR51 Anthony Schwartz, Cleveland Browns

Cleveland is already down Odell Beckham Jr. for the second week in a row. Now his replacement has appeared on the injury report with a knee injury. The 2021 third-round pick had a solid debut last week and is a sleeper to have a great week if he’s active against Houston. If Schwartz was to miss this week a combination of Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones would likely replace him. They could be solid DFS plays this week, but not for weekly fantasy.

WR82 Gabriel Davis, Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have treated Gabriel Davis like their tight end, he is their biggest red zone threat. Last week Davis tweaked his ankle against the Steelers. If he was to miss time this would benefit Emmanuel Sanders more than anyone in Buffalo. He still would not be a great play in a tough matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

WR86 Tyrell Williams, Detriot Lions

Last week Tyrell Williams suffered a concussion against the San Fransisco 49ers. If Williams was to miss time Quentez Cephus would be the Lions’ official number one receiver. Two receivers that could replace Williams are Kalif Raymond and 2021 fourth-round pick Amon-Ra St. Brown.
