The 2024-25 NFL season has begun which means fantasy football is back! The first week has shown us already that there could be some major differences in the fantasy landscape from last year to this year. But it’s important not to overreact to what happened in the first week of the season because there’s a lot of season left to be played.Since every week is important it would be irresponsible to start a player with a rough matchup over a player with a more favorable one that is ranked or projected to perform similarly. Here are fantasy football Week 2 wide receiver rankings.
[Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to Injured Reserve List]
[Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week]
Key:
Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.
Starting WR1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
High WR2- a player who may not be likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between WR1 and WR2 territory.
Starting WR2- a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started because of their consistency and moderately high floor
Low WR2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.
Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and cause a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.
Deeper League Flex- a player who has starting value in deeper leagues. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.
Upside Player- a player who is boom or bust. This player can exceed expectations in a given week or could flop and be the reason why someone lost their fantasy matchup.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Players that could miss this week’s game
Chicago Bears Wide Receivers: WR28 Keenan Allen & WR61 Rome Odunze
Keenan Allen missed practice on Wednesday with a heel injury. Rome Odunze missed practice Wednesday with a knee injury. If both Allen and Odunze miss Week 2 against the Houston Texans D.J. Moore moves up to WR22 between Chris Olave and Zay Flowers.
If Allen misses Week 2 against the Houston Texans and Odunze is active Odunze moves up to WR49 between Darnell Mooney and DeAndre Hopkins.
If Odunze misses Week 2 against the Houston Texans and Allen is active Allen remains WR28 between Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk.
WR30 Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions
Jameson Williams was limited in practice on Wednesday because on an ankle injury. It is unclear if this injury will affect his status for this week. If Williams misses Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kalif Raymond becomes the WR82 between Luke McCaffrey and Dontayvion Wicks.
WR41 Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks
Tyler Lockett was limited in practice on Wednesday with a thigh injury. If Lockett was to miss Week 2 against the New England Patriots Jaxon Smith-Njigba would move up to WR42 between Courtand Sutton and Josh Palmer. Jake Bobo becomes the WR87 between Jalen Nailor and Jonathan Mingo.
WR43 Josh Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers
Josh Palmer was limited in practice on Wednesday with a knee injury. He has been dealing with this injury since last week. If Palmer misses Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens Ladd McConey moves up to WR37 between Tank Dell and Xavier Worthy. Quinton Johnston moves up to WR65 between Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Romeo Doubs.
WR55 Darius Slayton, New York Giants
Darius Slayton missed practice on Wednesday with a concussion. He hasn’t practiced yet this week which does not bode well for his status for this upcoming week. If Slayton misses Week 2 against the Washington Commanders Jalin Hyatt moves up to WR77 between Ray-Ray McCloud and K.J. Osborn.
WR65 Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Kansas City Chiefs
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown missed last week’s game with a shoulder injury. He missed practice on Wednesday because of the injury. If Brown returns this week it’ll likely be in a limited capacity. If he misses Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals JuJu Smith-Schuster becomes the WR90 between Marvin Mims Jr. and Jahan Dotson.
WR68 Jauan Jennings, San Francisco 49ers
Jauan Jennings suffered an ankle injury last week against the New York Jets. He was limited in practice on Wednesday on Wednesday because of the injury. If Jennings misses Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings Chris Conley or Ronnie Bell will step up as the third receiver for the 49ers in three-receiver sets.
WR71 Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts
Josh Downs missed last week’s game against the Houston Texans with an ankle injury. He was limited in practice on Wednesday because of the injury. There is a chance Downs can return this week. If Downs misses Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers Adonai Mitchell moves up to WR69 between Jauan Jennings and Quinton Johnston. Alec Pierce moves up to WR72 between Elijah Moore and Devaugn Vale.
Denver Broncos Wide Receivers: WR72 Devaughn Vale & WR75 Josh Reynolds
Devaughn Vele missed practice on Wednesday with a rib injury. Josh Reynolds didn’t practice on Wednesday because of an Achilles injury. If both Vele and Reynolds miss Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers Marvin Mims Jr. moves up to WR73 between Mike Williams and Jalen McMillan. Troy Franklin becomes the WR90 between Curtis Samuel and Jahan Dotson.
Players that are currently not expected to play
Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams
Puka Nacua was placed on Injured Reserve with a knee injury. This means Nacua will miss at least the next four games. In Nacua’s absence, Cooper Kupp is expected to be the true number-one receiver in this offense. Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson are expected to have expanded roles as well. Robinson and Johnson could be fantasy viable while Nacua is out.
Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals
Tee Higgins missed last week’s game with a hamstring injury. He also missed practice on Wednesday because of the injury. Since Higgins is looking for a long-term contract he is expected to be conservative with his injury and wait till he feels 100% before returning. While Higgins is out Andrei Iosivas, Trenton Irwin, and Jermaine Burton are expected to have expanded roles.
Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings
Jordan Addison missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury. At the moment he is not expected to play this upcoming week against San Francisco. While Addison is out Jalen Nailor is expected to elevate into the number two receiver role behind Justin Jefferson.
DJ Chark, Los Angeles Chargers
DJ Chark was placed on Injured Reserve with a hip injury. While Chark is out Quinton Johnston is expected to elevate into the starting lineup besides Lad McConkey and Josh Palmer.
