The 2023-24 NFL season has begun which means fantasy football is back! Already after the first week of the season the perception of multiple players have been changed in the world of fantasy football. Although, it’s important not to overreact to what happened in the first week of the season because there’s a lot of season left. Since every week is important it would be irresponsible to start a player with a rough matchup over a player with a more favorable one that is ranked or projected to perform similar to the original player. Here are fantasy football Week 2 wide receiver rankings.
*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to the Injured Reserve List
(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)
Key:
Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.
Starting WR1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
High WR2- a player who may not be likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between WR1 and WR2 territory.
Starting WR2- a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started is because of their consistency and moderately high floor
Low WR2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.
Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and cause a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.
Deeper League Flex- a player who has starting value in deeper leagues. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.
Upside Player- a player who is boom or bust. This player can exceed expectations in a given week or could flop and be the reason why someone lost their fantasy matchup.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday
Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receivers: WR6 Davante Adams & WR36 Jakobi Meyers
Davante Adams was held out of practice Wednesday with a foot injury. Jakobi Meyers is currently in concussion protocol. If Davante Adams misses Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills and Jakobi Meyers plays then Meyers will move up to WR26 between Tyler Lockett and Jerry Jeudy. Hunter Renfrow moves up to WR58 between Skyy Moore and Robert Woods.
If Jakobi Meyers misses the game and Davante Adams is active then Hunter Renfrow moves up to WR70 between Calvin Austin III and Rondale Moore.
If both Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers misses Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills Hunter Renfrow moves up to WR30 between Zay Flowers and Puka Nucua. Kristian Wilkerson becomes the WR88 between Deonte Harty and Braxton Berrios.
WR14 Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins
Jaylen Waddle was limited in practice Wednesday because of an oblique injury. He is expected to play this week. If Waddle were to miss Week 2 against the New England Patriots Braxton Berrios would become WR73 between Jayden Reeed and Rondale Moore. River Cracraft becomes WR91 between Demario Douglas and John Metchie III.
WR16 DeAndre Hopkins, Tennessee Titans
DeAndre Hopkins missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury. If he was to miss Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers Treylon Burks moves up to WR38 between Zay Jones and Jahan Dotson. Nick Westbrook-Ihkine moves up to WR77 between Donovan Peoples-Jones and Michael Wilson.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receivers: WR25 Christian Watson & WR54 Romeo Doubs
Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are both dealing with hamstring injuries. Watson missed last week’s game while Doubs was able to play though the injury. If Christian Watson misses Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons and Romeo Doubs plays then Doubs becomes the WR28 between Mike Williams and Terry McLaurin. Jayden Reed moves up to WR62 between Tyler Boyd and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
If Doubs misses Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons and Christian Watson plays Jayden Reed moves up to WR59 between K.J. Osborn and Curtis Samuel. Dontayvion Wicks would become WR93 between Wan’Dale Robinson and Marvin Mims Jr.
If both Watson and Doubs miss Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons then Jayden Reed becomes WR40 between Odell Beckham Jr. and Gabriel Davis. Dontayvion Wicks becomes WR73 between Jonathan Mingo and Rondale Moore.
WR27 Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos
Jerry Jeudy suffered a hamstring injury that is expected to hold him out for the first few weeks of the season. He was held out of Denver’s season opener last week. If Jeudy misses Week 2 against the Washington Commanders Courtland Sutton becomes the WR28 between Mike Williams and Terry McLaurin.
WR51 Brandin Cooks, Dallas Cowboys
Brandin Cooks missed practice on Wednesday because of a knee injury. If Cooks misses Week 2 against the New York Jets Michael Gallup moves up to WR57 between Robert Woods or Skyy Moore. Jalen Tolbert would become the WR95 between Jalin Hyatt and Joshua Palmer.
New England Patriots Wide Receivers: WR56 DeVante Parker & WR101 Kayshon Boutte
DeVante Parker missed last week’s game with a knee injury. That injury limited Parker in practice on Wednesday. Kayshon Boutte was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury. If DeVante Parker misses Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins and Boutte is active Kendrick Bourne moves up to WR43 between Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Drake London. JuJu Smith-Schuster moves up to WR61 between D.J. Chark and Tyler Boyd. Demario Douglas moves up to WR86 between Marvin Jones Jr. and Hunter Renfrow. Kayshon Boutte moves up to WR96 between Jalin Hyatt and Joshua Palmer.
If Parker is active against the Miami Dolphins and Boutte is inactive, every Patriots wide receiver ranking stays the same.
If both Parker and Boutte are inactive then Kendrick Bourne moves up to WR43 between Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Drake London.
WR60 Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders
Curtis Samuel was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hip injury. If Samuel misses Week 2 against the Denver Broncos Dyami Brown would become the WR90 between Trey Palmer and Demario Douglas.
WR61 DJ Chark, Carolina Panthers
DJ Chark missed last week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons with a hamstring injury. He returned to practice on Wednesday. If Chark misses Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints Adam Thielen moves up to WR56 between Darnell Mooney and DeVante Parker. Jonathan Mingo moves up to WR69 between JuJu Smith-Schuster and Calvin Austin III.
WR92 John Metchie III, Houston Texans
John Metchie III missed last week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a hamstring injury. Metchie III was limited in practice on Wednesday because of the injury. Nico Collins, Robert Woods, and Tank Dell retain their current rankings if Metchie III is inactive.
WR93 Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants
Wan’Dale Robinson is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season. He missed last week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys due to the injury. If Robinson misses Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals the other Giants receivers should have larger roles in the offense.
Players that are currently not expected to play
Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers
Diontae Johnson is expected to miss multiple weeks with a hamstring injury after getting hurt in the Steelers season opener against the San Francisco 49ers. George Pickens is expected to be the number one receiver for the Steelers. He will be followed by Allen Robinson and Calvin Austin III in the receiver room.
