The 2025-26 NFL season has begun which means fantasy football is back! Most fantasy football team managers don’t make major lineup moves in the first week of the season. Typically managers will start the players they drafted in the earlier rounds. However, since every week is important it would be irresponsible to start a player with a rough matchup over a player with a more favorable one because he was drafted to be a starter. Here are fantasy football week 2 tight end rankings.
Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They Will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.
Starting TE1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a solid floor.
Touchdown Dependent Starter- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not because of depth at the position. Their production is based on whether they can get in the end zone or not. It can be the difference between a top 10 performance or a top 25 performance
Deep League Starter- a player whose ceiling isn’t high but should put up enough production to be started in deep leagues. When a player like this is started it is because their production though it will likely be low, will be better than a few options.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

TE1 Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders
Cade Otton was limited in practice on Wednesday with a groin injury. He suffered this injury about three weeks ago and it is unclear if this is something that could linger into the season. If Otton misses Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons Payne Durham will likely start at tight end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brock Bowers suffered a knee injury last week against the New England Patriots. He wanted to return to play but he medical staff held him out for the remainder of the game. If Bowers misses Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers Michael Mayer moves up to TE17 between Juwan Johnson and Brenton Strange.
TE7 Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
Dallas Goedert missed practice on Wednesday with a knee injury. He sprained his knee last week against the Dallas Cowboys. It is unclear this injury will affect his status for this week’s game. If Goedert misses Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs Grant Calcaterra becomes TE24 between Noah Fantasy and Dalton Schultz.
TE10 Evan Engram, Denver Broncos
Evan Engram was limited in practice on Wednesday with a calf injury. He suffered the injury last week against the Tennessee Titans. It is unclear if this injury will affect his status for this week’s game. If Engram misses Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts Adam Trautman becomes TE30 between Ja’Tavion Sanders and Tyler Higbee.
TE28 Mason Taylor, New York Jets
Mason Taylor missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury. In order to play this week Taylor will have to return to practice Thursday or Friday. If Taylor misses Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills Jeremy Ruckert becomes the TE32 between Jake Tonges and Michael Mayer.
TE29 Darren Waller, Miami Dolphins
Darren Waller last week’s game against the New England Patriots with a hip injury. He could potentially miss this week’s game as well because of the injury. If Waller misses Week 2 against the New England Patriots Tanner Conner will likely start at tight end for the Miami Dolphins.
George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers placed George Kittle on Injured Reserve because of the hamstring injury he suffered last week against the Seattle Seahawks. He will be out until Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While Kittle is out Jake Tonges is expected to start at tight end for the 49ers. Tonges likely will not replace Kittle’s production. But he could become a streaming candidate if he proves to have consistent production week after week.
