The 2025-26 NFL season has been outstanding so far. Already there have been a ton of breakout players and fantasy duds that have made the game so entertaining. It is championship week in most fantasy leagues. During the playoffs Fantasy Managers will have full utilization of their roster and need to make sure they have backup options on their roster incase their stars get hurt. There have plenty of injuries this season to crucial players that make the pool of players to choose from on waivers that much thinner. It’s always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the fantasy football week 17 quarterback rankings.
[Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to Injured Reserve List]
[Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week]
Must Start- a player who should definitely be in your lineup that week because of the combination of matchup and talent. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and could repeat the production most weeks.
Starter- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
Low-End Starter- a player who should be started in most lineups but can possibly bottom out and finish below average on a given week. A high ceiling play in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Streamer- a player who could be a perfect replacement for a starter for a week or two. Starting this player may not win you your lineup but they will make sure that your production out of that position will not lose you your matchup either. Also a viable option in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Deep League Streamer- a player who could fill a void at a position in a deeper league. Their ceiling may be close to average point production at the position but their floor is enough to get through the week. A reasonable player to have in your lineup in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

QB1 Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen missed practice on Tuesday with a foot injury. He is considered day-to-day with the injury. If Allen misses Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles Mitch Trubisky becomes QB27 between Aaron Rodgers and Josh Johnson.
QB14 Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love suffered a concussion last week against the Chicago Bears. He was limited in practice on Tuesday because of the injury. If Love misses Week 17 against the Baltimore Ravens Malik Willis becomes QB21 between Geno Smith and Kirk Cousins.
QB16 Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson suffered a back injury last week against the New England Patriots. He missed practice on Wednesday because of the injury. If Jackson misses Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers Tyler Huntley becomes QB29 between Quinn Ewers and Max Brosmer.
Marcus Mariota, Washington Commanders
Marcus Mariota suffered hand and quad injuries that caused him to miss practice on Tuesday. It is unlikely that he plays this week which makes it unlikely for him to play in the final week of the season. If this ends Mariota’s season, veteran Josh Johnson becomes Washington’s starting quarterback. His impact in fantasy has less to do with the production he puts up and more to do with how he affects the Commanders fantasy assets down he stretch. Johnson should not be near fantasy lineups this late in the season.
J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota Vikings
J.J. McCarthy suffered a fracture in his throwing hand last week against the New York Giants. This could and likely should end McCarthy’s season. While he is out Minnesota should get an extensive look at Max Brosmer. Though Brosmer will not likely be near fantasy lineups this late in the season, he is competing for an opportunity to be a part of this quarterback room next season which is expected to bring a veteran to push the inconsistent McCarthy.
Gardner Minshew, Kansas City Chiefs
Gardner Minshew was placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a knee injury Monday. This injury has ended Minshew’s 2025-26 season. After looking deeper into the injury Minshew’s ACL is still intact. This likely means that Minshew will be ready for the beginning of next season. After spending this past season behind Patrick Mahomes, the former Pro Bowl quarterback could be in line to start Week 1 for the Chiefs next season if Mahomes is not ready to play.
