Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week, there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add in Week 8.
(Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 55 percent of ESPN leagues)
Coleman returned from injury in week 7 against the Cardinals. While he was still part of a running back rotation, he was utilized heavily for a player just coming back. He had nine rushes for 54 yards and also had two catches for 15 yards. Coleman played just below half of Denver’s offensive snaps.
When healthy, Coleman has proven to be worthy of more touches. He averaged 6.0 yards per carry, which is more than two yards more than any other running back put up in the game. Coleamn can be added now, but once he takes more of a share of the backfield he can be started. He is currently rostered in 24.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
Cooper returned from injury in Week 6 against the Patriots and had a great game. He finished that contest with six catches for 103 yards and one touchdown. Cooper had an even better performance in Week 7 against the Dolphins, as he had five catches for 115 yards and one touchdown.
It seems like Cooper and Geno Smith have a nice conection. Cooper has done better than Garrett Wilson the last two weeks. He may not replicate these performances every week, but Cooper is worthy of being added. While he is on his hot streak he can be started as well. Cooper is currently rostered in 34.7 percent of ESPN leaugues.
Denzel Boston has had a lot of production and hype from the Browns’ rookie wide receivers, but now Concepcion is breaking out too. He had a great game against the Titans, as he caught eight passes for 129 yards. Concepcion was also utilized in the running game, as he had three rushes for 23 yards.
Whether the Browns can support two wide receivers as valuable fantasy assets remains to be seen, but Concepcion can be added for the time being. In desperation, he can be started, as another big game could be coming now that he is heading to the back stretch of his rookie season and is getting more comfortable. He is rostered in 42.9 percent of ESPN leagues.
McGowan has been the backup to Jonathan Taylor all season long. Against the Vikings, McGowan got the most work of his career by far. He carried the ball 11 times for 46 yards. He also had one catch for two yards. The rookie’s uptick in usage probably isn’t by accident.
There are plenty of rumors that the Colts are looking to move Jonathan Taylor. McGowan can be picked up now before that happens to ensure he is rostered by other fantasy managers try to swoop in. While he shouldn’t be started yet, if Taylor is traded, McGowan becomes a valuable fantasy player. He is rostered in four percent of ESPN leagues.
In the first two weeks of the season, Douglas played solidly for a rookie before getting hurt. He had 113 receiving yards over the first two weeks, but then missed the next several weeks with an ankle injury. Douglas returned in Week 7 against the Jets and had two catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
He is capabale of creating big plays and has been on the same page as quarterback Malik Willis. Douglas is rosterable and can be started in certain situations/leagues. He may be a boom or bust player, but is still worth being on rosters in most fantasy formats. Douglas is rostered in just 9.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
