Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 7. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
There was some uncertainty over which Chargers’ running back would get the work with some injuries in the backfield, but Hassan Haskins was originally the prevailing thought. The Chargers instead utilized Kimani Vidal more and he produced. He had 18 carries for 124 yards and caught three passes for 14 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins.
The Chargers maty still be in the market to add a running back to help, with both Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton being out. For the time being, Vidal looks like he will get most of the work out of the backfield for the Chargers. He is currently rostered in 27.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Cardinals had another running back situation that was tough to figure out early last week. Between Michael Carter, Emari Demercado and Bam Knight, it was anyone’s guess as to who would get the majority of the workload in the absence of James Conner and Trey Benson. This week, Knight was given most of the snaps. He finished the game with 11 carries for 34 yards and a touchdown. Knight also had one catch for 20 yards.
Arizona played a tough Colts’ defense in week 6 and Knight had an ok game, but was boosted by finding the end zone. He figures to be a more efficient runner in the coming weeks and has likely earned the right to keep getting most of the snaps. Knight is rostered in just 5.6 percent of ESPN leagues.
Spears came back from an ankle injury in week 5, but saw even more time in week 6. Although he split time in the backfield with Tony Pollard, Spears actually outsnapped Pollard with him specializing as a passing down threat. Spears finished with five carries for 31 yards and also had four catches for 19 yards.
The split backfield makes it tough to figure out when to start Spears, but his volume does warrant him being on a roster in most leagues. In games the Titans lose, he will get more snaps, but in games the Titans are leading Pollard will likely pace the team in snaps. Spears is currently rostered in 23.6 percent of ESPN leauges.
Boutte has been inconsistent this season, with some duds to go with some good performances. He had a great game in week 6 against the Saints that may build momentum for more good performances down the stretch. Boutte finished the game with five catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
The Patriots seem to find succcess the more they target Boutte. They targeted him eight times in week 1 and he had 100 yards. This week presented his second most targets with five and he delivered with another good performance. If he keeps playing this well the Patriots may utilize him more. He is currently rostered in just seven percent of ESPN leagues.
Bourne has been one of the most productive receivers in the league over the last two weeks. He had 10 catches for 142 yards in week 5 against the Rams. Bourne had another big game in week 6 with five catches for 142 yards.
Although he didn’t find the end zone in either game, Bourne is due. He is filling in for a really banged-up offense in San Francisco, so he likely isn’t a long-term option, but Bourne has a good rapport with Mac Jones and has some short-term value. He is rostered in 37.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
