Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 6.
(Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
The Cardinals have had brutal running back injuries. James Conner is out for the season and Trey Benson was placed on IR this week. That opened up work for other running backs, but it was unclear who would get a lot of work. Michael Carter rose to the opportunity with 18 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown. He also had five catches for 22 yards.
Carter led all Cardinals’ running backs in snaps and will likely continue to get work. Emari Demercado fumbled before finding the end zone, which led to a Titans’ comeback, which might lead the Cardinals to trust Carter more. He can be added and started in the right situation. Carter is rostered in 41.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Chargers have had some running back injuries of their own. Najee Harris was lost for the season with an injury. In week 5, Omarion Hampton was injured and left the game in a walking boot. Haskins had five carries for 13 yards. He also had one catch for two yards.
Haskins figures to have a larger role if Hampton does need to miss time. Kimani Vidal will also probably get some work, but Haskins is higher on the depth chart and will likely get the goal-line work. He can be added and if Hampton misses time, Haskins can be started in a lot of formats. He is rostered in 0.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
Green Bay had a bye in week 5. This follows Doubs really impressing against the Cowboys in week 4. He had six catches for 58 yards and three touchdowns.
With four touchdowns on the year, Doubs has built a good rapport with Jordan Love. In week 6, Doubs will have a favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Doubs shouldn’t be started every week, but is definitely worthy of being on a roster. He is available in over 55 percent of ESPN leagues.
Over the last two weeks, Kendre Miller has earned more work in the Saints’ backfield. Alvin Kamara is still healthy, but Miller is doing well with his opportunity. In week 4, he had 11 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown. He had 10 carries for 41 yards to go with one catch for eight yards in week 5.
Although he didn’t find the end zone in week 5, his larger workload the last two weeks is notable. He isn’t a player that should be started every week, but can be picked up, especially in deeper leagues. Miller is currently rostered in 21 percent of ESPN leagues.
Waller has had two great weeks of football for the Dolphins. In week 4, he had three catches for 27 yards and two touchdowns. This week, he added to that with five catches for 78 yards and one touchdown against the Panthers.
Without Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins are utilizing Waller well, especially in the red zone. His usage will likely continue to stay high, along with Jaylen Waddle. Teams in need of a tight end can pick him up and start him. Waller is rostered in just 48.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
