Fantasy Football Players to Add Week 6

Publish Date: October 9, 2023

Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 6. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)

1. Roschon Johnson, RB, Chicago Bears

The Bears are having injuries at the running back position. Khalil Herbert was injured in the Thursday Night matchup against the Commanders. That means rookie Roschon Johnson is set to see an increased workload. He has 122 rushing yards and a touchdown on the season.

While he is dealing with a concussion himself, the extra few days off should allow him to prepare for week 6. He will likely share carries with D’Onta Foreman, but Johnson should be the go-to-guy with Herbert out. Johnson can be picked up, started in week 6 (if Herbert is out) and held as he continues to carve out a role. He is rostered in 37 percent of ESPN leagues.

2. Emari Demercado, RB, Arizona Cardinals

Against the Bengals in week 5, James Conner had to leave the game with a knee injury. Demercado, the rookie, was able to fill in for the Cardinals. He had 10 carries for 45 yards and one touchdown. Demercado also added one catch for 12 yards.

There are limited updates on Conner’s availability moving forward, but Demercado is worth adding for the time being. He will see a lot of work with Conner out, as the Cardinals did not give another running back a carry in the game after Conner’s injury. Demercado is available in over 99.5 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Jaleel McLaughlin, RB, Denver Broncos

Javonte Williams was inactive for week 5 against the Jets. When he went down in week 4, McLaughlin had seven carries for 72 yards and 32 receiving yards with a touchdown. In week 5, McLaughlin had nine carries for 68 yards. He also added three catches for 21 yards and a touchdown.

McLaughlin has done enough to earn a role even when Williams returns from injury. While he recovers, McLaughlin is the lead back, as Samaje Perine only had six carries. He can be added and the Williams injury situation can be monitored. McLaughlin is rostered in just under 50 percent of ESPN leagues.

4. Justice Hill, RB, Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have had plenty of injuries this season and that includes their backfield. Justice Hill and Gus Edwards have both shared the workload since J.K. Dobbins was injured. Hill had seven carries for 32 yards and a touchdown in week 5. He also had four catches for 13 yards.

In the past and even this season, the Ravens have shown they can support two running backs in their offense. While Hill maybe isn’t able to be started every week, he should be rostered and played in the right situation. He is rostered in just 23.5 percent of ESPN leagues.

5. Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers

While Miles Sanders was signed in free agency and was though to be the top back in Carolina, Hubbard is actually getting more of the work. In week 5, he had nine carries to Sanders’s seven. Hubbard had 35 rushing yards and one catch for no yards against the Lions.

Starting Hubbard is too rich right now, but he can be added. If the backfield shakes out his way, he can be an asset to a fantasy roster down the stretch of the season. He is rostered in just 18.1 percent fo ESPN leagues.
