Fantasy Football Players to Add Week 5

Publish Date: October 5, 2026

Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week, there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add in Week 5.

(Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 55 percent of ESPN leagues)

1. Tank Bigsby, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Saquon Barkley left the game early with an injury and Bigsby took some of the work. He had 14 carries for 55 yards. Bigsby did not score a touchdown or have a reception. The Eagles utilized him until he left the game with an undisclosed injury.

Checking injury news this week will be crucial to figure out who to pick up. If Barkley is out, but Bigsby is good to go, picking him up is the right option. Will Shipley would be the running back to pick up if both of the players are out. If Barkley is healthy, Bigsby could be insurance, as Barkley has been banged up a couple of times this season. Bigsby is rostered in 15.6 percent of ESPN leagues.

2. Emanuel Wilson, RB, Seattle Seahawks

Over the last few weeks, the Seahawks have utilized Wilson a lot. He had 21 carries for 92 yards and week 2, nine carries for 14 yards in week 3 and then had 21 carries for 81 yars and one touchdown in week 4. Wilson also had three catches for 39 yards and a touchdown in week 4.

Wilson has taken advantage of his situation. Jadarian Price was put on IR with a chest injury and it seems that Zach Charbonnet is not yet ready to return to the field. Wilson is the running back to roster, although the Seahawks are reportedly working out free agents due to the injury issues. Wilson can still be added for the short term. He is rostered in 50.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Keaton Mitchell, RB, Los Angeles Chargers

Omarion Hampton was thought to be the go-to back heading into the season, but the snaps are more split. Mitchell has worked his way into the rotation more each week. In week 4 against Seattle, he had 10 carries for 39 yards. He added five catches for 24 yards as well.

This past week, Mitchell had the most touches out of the Chargers’ backfield. Mitchell is averaging more yards per carry than Hampton and might give him even more work. He can be added while the situation is sorted out and started if he begins to take more of the workload. Mitchell is rostered in 18.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

4. Kaleb Johnson, RB, Green Bay Packers

Johnson had eight carries for 42 yards in the Week 4 game against the Buccaneers. He took over early-down work for the Packers offense and was the most successful rusher, as he averaged 5.3 yards per carry in the game.

If the Packers can stay in the game, Johnson will get a decent amount of work. He only had four carries against Atlanta when the Packers were playing from behind. Johnson is worth rostering, but might need a breakthrough performance before he can be trusted to start.

5. Jordyn Tyson, WR, New Orleans Saints

Tyson was the first-round pick for the Saints who has missed every game this season due to a hamstring injury. He is eligible to come off of IR in Week 5. The Saints have one of the best passing offenses in the NFL this season and Tyson could produce.

Adding Tyson and seeing how he does before starting him is a smart move. He is talented, even though he is often injured. If he can stay healthy, there is a path to production in New Orleans. Tyson could be moved to the IR spot for now if he doesn’t return, as Adam Schefter reported that he could still be weeks away from a return. He is currently rostered in 33.6 percent of ESPN leagues.
