Fantasy Football Players to Add Week 5

Publish Date: September 29, 2025

Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 5. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)

1. Woody Marks, RB, Houston Texans

Nick Chubb has received a lot of the work out of the Texans’ backfield in the first few weeks, but Woody Marks is slowly getting more work. In week 4, Marks had 17 carries in week 4, which is his best output of the season. He finished the game with 69 rushing yards, a touchdown on the ground and also had four catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.

Marks continues to impress with the work he gets and his role should continue to increase. His work in the passing game makes him more valuable, as the Texans’ offensive line is far from consistent. He is currently rostered in just 33.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

2. Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

The Packers have been in search of a number one receiver for the last few seasons. So far this season, Romeo Doubs has played well. He is the 12th-ranked receiver at 10.5 points per game. In week 4, he caught six passes for 58 yards and three touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys.

While the game against the Cowboys likely won’t be the standard, Doubs also had a touchdown in week 2. He seems to have a good rapport with Jordan Love and can be added to a roster. If he keeps playin well, he can be started. Doubs is currently rostered in 35.7 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Late in the week, Steelers’ running back Jaylen Warren had a knee injury. He was a late scratch for the team in Ireland and Kenneth Gainwell took most of the workload. He finished the game with 19 carries for 99 yards and two touchdowns. He also had six catches for 35 yards.

Warren was struggling to gain consistent yards on the ground and may miss more time. Gainwell’s success could earn him more snaps, although he will have to hold off rookie Kaleb Johnson as well. Adding Gainwell in case Warren’s injury continues is a safe play and he can be started if Warren is out for another game. He is rostered in just 35.6 percent of ESPN leagues.

4. Chris Rodriguez, RB, Washington Commanders

Since being inactive for the first two weeks of the season, Rodriguez has had a larger role. Austin Ekler getting injured opened up some opportunity for Rodriguez. After having 11 caries in week 3, he had seven for 59 yards in week 4.

Rodriguez gets some of the early down work for the Commanders. He battles for Bill Croskey-Merritt for carries, but Rodriguez is a better short-yardage back. While starting him would be risky, he gets a decent amount of work and should be added. He is rostered in just five percent of ESPN leagues.

5. Jaydon Blue, RB, Dallas Cowboys

Blue has been inactive for the first four games of the Cowboys’ season. The rookie running back has been a victim of the decision by the Cowboys to only carry two halfbacks on the roster. In week 4, Miles Sanders suffered an ankle injury and left the game against the Packers.

The Cowboys will likely have to bring Blue onto the team if Sanders misses time. If he is called up, Blue can provide some immediate value. Javonte Williams will get a lot of work and Hunter Luepke will also help out, but Blue will likely get an opportunity. He is rostered in just 21.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
