Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 4.
(Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
Tuten was on this list last week after the Jaguars traded Tank Bigsby to the Eagles. It opened up a path for him to produce more. He had a solid game against the Texans in week 3, rushing six times for 21 yards and one touchdown. Tuten did not record a reception.
The backfield still mostly belongs to Travis Etienne, but Tuten looks like he’ll get more work down the stretch. LeQuint Allen also gets some time, but Tuten is firmly behind Etienne. He can be added now, as he will likely be used more heavily the rest of the season. He is currently rostered in 48.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
Nick Chubb has received a lot of the work out of the Texans’ backfield in the first few weeks, but Woody Marks is slowly getting more work. After getting three carries in each of the first two games, he had six carries in week 3 against the Jaguars. He finished the game with 27 rushing yards and also had one catch for nine yards.
The Texans gave Marks more of the snaps than he had been getting, which shows more confidence in him. With Chubb having plenty of injuries in his history, Marks could be used more to take some of the wear and tear off of him. He is currently available in more than 91 percent of ESPN leagues.
In week 3, Ayomanor logged his second-straight week with a touchdown. He has established himself as a starting receiver and has run with his opportunity. Against the Colts in week 3, he caught four of his five targets for 38 yards and a touchdown. It was the least amount of targets he has had this season, but the consistent work he is getting is encouraging.
Ayomanor is a tough matchup problem for defenders in the red zone, as he has good size and athleticism. As he continues to build trust with his quarterback Cam Ward, Ayomanor can play even better in the future later this season. He is currently rostered in 21.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
Thornton continues to get more work in the Chiefs’ offense every week. He had four targets, then five targets in the first two weeks of the season. Week 3 gave him the opportunity to break out, as he had five catches for 71 yards and a touchdown on nine targets. It was his second-straight game with a touchdown.
The Chiefs have plenty of question marks surrounding their pass catchers this season, but Thornton is starting to build some trust. Rashee Rice is still suspended for three more games and Xavier Worthy is still recovering from his shoulder injury suffered in week 1. When those players come back, Thornton could take a step back, but for now, he can keep producing for the Chiefs. He is currently rostered in just 2.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
Tucker had a great week 3 against the Washington Commanders that could be worth looking into. He caught eight passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns. It was his second touchdown of the season. He is currently ranked as the second-highest scoring wide receiver in standard-scoring leagues.
Geno Smith has shown the ability to attack defenses downfield and he is trusting Tucker in those situations. His production won’t stay this good, but Tucker can be added as a lottery ticket at the end of the roster. If he keeps producing he can be started. He is currently rostered in 2.0 percent of ESPN leagues.
