Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 17. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues.)
Corum continues to produce and isn’t being picked up at a high rate. He has four straight double-digit scoring games. In week 16, he had 14 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
Kyren Williams is still the lead back, but Corum is worth rostering. He is getting a decent amount of the workload and that trend seems like it is going to continue. Corum is rostered in just 29.9 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Cardinals continue to have running back injuries this season. Bam Knight was just placed on IR, so he joins James Conner and Trey Benson as running backs who are out for the season. Michael Carter has been getting plenty of work the last few weeks. In week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons, he had 11 carries for 65 yards.
Carter figures to take the early-down work for the Cardinals, while Emari Demarcado will be used on passing downs. That should be enough of a workload for Carter to have a couple of successful weeks down the stretch. He is rostered in just 39 percent of ESPN leagues.
Rodriguez missed week 15 with a groin injury, but returned to his role as the Commanders’ lead back in week 16. He rushed 15 times for 63 yards and a touchdown. Rodriguez also had a catch for six yards against the Eagles.
When healthy, Rodriguez has been an early-down workhorse for the Commanders. That will continue down the stretch, which makes him worth rostering. He is rostered in just 29.9 percent of ESPN leagues.
Sampson missed his first game of the season in week 15. During the game, Quinshon Judkins broke his leg, so Sampson is in store for an increased workload in the upcoming games.
It will be worth monitoring Sampson’s injury status this week. If he can’t go, Raheim Sanders will be worth picking up. Sampson has added value as a receiver that makes him an enticing option when healthy. He is rostered in 7.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Saints have had plenty of injuries to the running back position. They are using other running backs to fill in, but they are also using Taysom Hill. In week 16, Hill had four catches for 36 yards. He added 12 carries for 42 yards in the week 16 game against the Jets.
Audric Estime and Evan Hull could be used more as running backs in the next few weeks, but Hill is versatile and knows the offense. He can be played in the last week(s) of fantasy football as a wildcard option. Hill is rostered in 1.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
