Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 16.
(Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
*With game postponements, check back for any updates later in the week!
On Sunday Night Football, the Buccaneers suffered quite a few injuries. One of them was to Leonard Fournette, who left the game with a hamstring injury. After he went down, Jones stepped in, finishing the game with 63 rushing yards. He also had two catches for eight yards.
It looks like Fournette may miss some time with the hamstring injury, which means Jones will be the go-to running back. Jones has proven to be productive when given the opportunity and could be seeing lots of work down the stretch. He is currently rostered in 23.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
St. Brown was on this list last week as well. The rookie wide receiver just seems to be getting better and better as the weeks go on. Against the Cardinals, St. Brown caught eight passes for 90 yards and found the end zone once. He was targeted 11 times and had a carry for five yards.
As with a lot of other rookies, they seem to find their groove late in the season. St. Brown has turned into Jared Goff‘s favorite target over the last few weeks and it doesn’t look like that will change much in the last few weeks of the season. He is currently available in 76 percent of ESPN leagues.
Miami had plenty of COVID issues in their backfield on Sunday. That opened up a chance for Johnson to get some work in the game against the Jets. He answered the call with 22 carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Johnson also had caught one pass for 20 yards.
The Dolphins really don’t have the best running game this season. Anyone who can bring that to the team needs to see more of a workload at the end of the season as the team makes their playoff push. Johnson is owned in just 0.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
Emmanuel Sanders went down with an injury in week 14 and Davis has really stepped up in his absence. Against the Panthers in week 15, Davis had his best game yet with five catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns. This follows up two other games where he had a touchdown catch.
While Sanders may be healthy enough to play in the coming weeks, Davis has earned the right to see the field more. As a red zone threat, he has really helped the Bills’ offense. He is rostered in just 12.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
As mentioned, the Buccaneers had several players go down against the Saints. Mike Evans had a hamstring injury and Chris Godwin sprained his MCL. Antonio Brown was out after faking his vaccination status. Johnson finished the game with four catches for 41 yards.
With Godwin and Evans possibly set to miss some time, Johnson will get a lot more run in the offense. Brown does return, but defenses are likely to focus on stopping him and Rob Gronkowski, leaving less attention on him. He is currently rostered in 1.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
