Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 13.
(Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
Over the last few games, Rodriguez has been getting more run in the Commanders’ offense. He had 12 carries in week 9, then six in week 10 and 15 in week 11. He finished the game in week 11 against the Dolphins with 79 rushing yards and also had one catch for six yards.
Rodriguez gets the carries when the Commanders are able to run the ball. When they go down early, like they did against the Lions, his productivity could be limited. If the Commanders are projected to be in the game, Rodriguez could be started based on the matchup. The Commanders are coming off a bye, so Rodriguez is still widely available. Rodriguez is currently rostered in 8.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Saints have had some running back injuries over the last several weeks. Kendre Miller is out for the season and Alvin Kamara left the week 12 game against the Falcons with a knee injury. Neal stepped in and played, doing decently in relief. He had seven carries for 18 yards and also had five catches for 43 yards.
Kamara was originally deemed questionable to return before being ruled out so the injury likely isn’t that serious. With the Saints having nothing to play for, Kamara could be held out as a precaution. Neal is going to get more work out of the backfield either way down the stretch and should be added. He is currently rostered in just 1.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
There are rumors that Bucky Iriving might still need more time to recover. Even if those aren’t true, Sean Tucker has been playing great the last few weeks. In week 11, he had 19 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns. He followed that up with 12 carries for 42 yards and also added one catch for four yards.
The Buccaneers’ backfield situation can be watched before deciding to start Tucker, but he has likely earned plenty of playing time down the stretch of the season, even when Irving returns. That makes him worth adding. Tucker is currently rostered in 47.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
Boutte has had a good season, ranking 35th in standard scoring leagues. He missed two games, in weeks 10 and 11 with a hamstring injury. The Patriots brought him back for week 12. It wasn’t his best performance, as he had two catches for 15 yards, but it was important for the team to get him back.
With him being largely forgotten about, Boutte is still available in a lot of leagues. When healthy he has played well this season and Drake Maye seems to find him in the end zone. He can be picked up and started based on the matchup. Boutte is rostered in 34.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
Ja’Marr Chase missed the week 12 game against the Patriots with a suspension for spitting on Jalen Ramsey. Iosivas had more opportunities against the Patriots and had a decent game. He finished the game with four catches for 61 yards. Iosivas also had one rush for five yards.
During the game, Tee Higgins was injured and is now in concussion protocol. Iosivas left the game with an injury of his own, but returned. Even with Chase returning, Iosivas can be added just in case Higgins is unable to play. Joe Burrow is possibly returning this week, which could boost Iosiva’s value for the week.
