One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream in week 7. (Note: All defense mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
1. Dallas Cowboys
The worst fantasy defense this season is the top defense to stream this week. Dallas has played one good game in fantasy this year, which came against the Giants. Otherwise they have scored negative or no points in every game this season.
This week the Cowboys play Washington, who have recently benched Dwayne Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen. Washington ranks 29th against opposing defenses this year, so there is an opportunity for the Cowboys to have a big performance, like they did against the Giants. The Cowboys are owned in 22 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles have an average fantasy defense, ranking 16th in the league. They have a 14-point performance against the 49ers that is carrying them right now. The Eagles also played well against Washington and Cincinnati.
In week 7, the Eagles play the Giants. The Giants currently rank 31st against opposing defenses, which makes this a good matchup for Philadelphia. The Eagles are available in about 84 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. New York Giants
On the flip side of the Thursday matchup are the Giants. The Giants are surprisingly the sixth-ranked fantasy defense this year, after coming into the season with low expectations. In the last three weeks, they have played well with each performance netting at least seven points.
The Giants are playing the Eagles, who rank 28th against opposing defenses. With Philadelphia having so many injuries on their offense, the Giants have a chance to have a good game and could possibly win it. The Giants are owned in 47.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Cleveland Browns
Cleveland has the 11th ranked fantasy defense this season. They have two 13-point performances, one of which came against Washington and the other against Indianapolis. The Browns have just one negative scoring performance, which came against Dallas.
This week, the Browns play a familiar opponent in the Cincinnati Bengals. Last time they played, the Browns scored three fantasy points. The Browns have an opportunity to get some points, as the Bengals rank 27th against opposing defenses this season and their offensive line has struggled. Cleveland’s defense is available in over 80 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers rank 21st as a fantasy defense, but they still have some really good talent on that side of the ball. They scored 0 points against the Chiefs, Saints and Bucs, but scored 12 against the Bengals and four points against the Panthers. They are coming off a bye week, which only helps them.
Jacksonville is the opponent for the Chargers this week. They rank 27th against opposing defenses this season. With the Chargers coming off of a week of rest and playing a bad fantasy offense, they have a chance to put up some points. They are available in about 79 percent of ESPN leagues.
