One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 6. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)
1. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have the 15th-ranked fantasy defense this season at 7.0 points per game. They have two double-digit scoring performances on the season, against the Jaguars and Bears. Their worst performance was a three-point outing against the Lions in week 1. They have a fumble recovery every week and 13 sacks this season.
In week 6 the Chiefs are taking on the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are scoring 24.2 points per game, but have played a lot of bad defenses so far this season. Kansas City should be able to put up more resistance and have a solid outing. The Chiefs are available in 51 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta is 25th for fantasy defenses at 4.0 points per game. They had a double-digit performance in week 1 against the Panthers. Their worst game was against the Texans, when they scored no points. They have five sacks and three interceptions on the season.
The Falcons are playing the Commanders in week 6. Washington is scoring just 21.8 points per game. They are coming off a game when they scored 20 points, most of it at the end of the game, against a bad Bears defense. Atlanta can protect their home field and have a good performance. They are rostered in just 2.9 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams are 28th for fantasy defenses at 2.6 points per game. They had eight points in their best game of the season against the Seahawks. Los Angeles’s defense has two negative-scoring performances against the 49ers and Eagles. The Rams specifically have been impressive getting to the quarterback with eight sacks so far this season.
In week 5, the Rams are playing the Cardinals. Arizona is scoring 21.6 points per game and could be without starting running back James Conner. With the Rams’ defensive stats being hurt by them playing the Eagles and the 49ers in the first five weeks of the season, they can show improvement in week 6. They are rostered in 1.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders rank 31st for fantasy defenses at one point per game. They had a five-point game against the Broncos for their most impressive performance of the season. Their worst showing was against Buffalo in week 2 when they scored -6 points. They have seven sacks so far this season.
Las Vegas will be going up against the New England Patriots. They are scoring an NFL-low 11 points per game. Mac Jones has thrown six interceptions already this season. While the Raiders don’t have the best defense in the league, this matchup presents a great opportunity for them to play well. They are rostered in just 1.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota ranks 22nd for fantasy defenses at 4.4 points per game. They scored 18 points against the Panthers for their best game of the season. Conversely, they scored -3 points for their worst game against the Chargers. They have 13 sacks on the season so far.
The Vikings are playing the Bears in week 6. That gives them the opportunity for a good game, but the Bears played well in their last outing against the Commanders. Minnesota should only be started in a desperate situation. They are rostered in 2.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
