One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 2. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)
San Francisco has a solid fantasy defense and socred 10 points in their week 1 games against Seattle. They had two fumble recoveries, a sack and only 13 points allowed.
In week 2, the 49ers are matching up with the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are starting Spencer Rattler at quarterback and scored just 13 points in week 1. With Robert Saleh back at defensive coordinator, the 49ers defense can have a good year and this can be another good game for them. They are rostered in just 19 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Rams had a good week 1, scoring 12 gantasy points against the Houston Texans. They had one interception, one fumble recovery, three sacks and just nine points allowed.
This week, the Rams play the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee scored just 12 points in week 1 and it looked discombobulated, as receivers and Cam Ward weren’t on the same page. If the Rams’ defensive line can get pressure, they can force the rookie quarterback into mistakes. The rams are available in over 92 percent of ESPN leagues.
Dallas traded away Micah Parsons, which limits their ceiling, but can still make the list. They scored one point in week 1 against the Eagles. The Cowboys allowed 24 points and had just one sack.
It wasn’t a great performance, but it was against good competition. This week, they play the New York Giants. The Giants scored six points in week 1 against the Commanders, so there is an opportunity for the Cowboys to have a good game. With the Giants being noncommittal to who they start at quarterback, Dallas could be the beneficiary. They are rostered in just 3.7 percent completion.
The Chargers played the Chiefs in Brazil in week 1 and got the win. They registered two fantasy points by allowing 21 points and two sacks.
In week 2, the Chargers play the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders scored just 13 points in their season opener against New England. They had trouble sustaining long drives and getting points on the board later in the game. The Chargers can slow them down and play well. They are rostered in 3.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
Green Bay had a great week 1 with the new addition of Micah Parsons. They scored 11 fantasy points against Detroit, with one interception, four sacks and 13 points allowed.
The week 2 matchup is with the Washington Commanders. While the Commanders have a solid offense, the Packers will be playing them on a short week, as this game is on Thursday. The Packers can be picked up now and could even be a long-term fantasy option. They are currently rostered in 37.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
