One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 17. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)
The Giants have had a bad fantasy defense, ranking 30th at 2.4 points per game. They have one double-digit scoring game, which was against the Vikings in week 16. The Giants have five negative scoring games this season, which were against the Cowboys, Broncos, Eagles, Bears and Lions.
This week, the Giants play the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are scoring a league-low 14.5 points per game. While the Giants haven’t played the best defense this season, they can take advantage of this great matchup. They are rostered in 9.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
Las Vegas has a subpar fantasy defense, ranking 26th at 3.6 points per game. They have two double-digit scoring games, which were against the Titans and Broncos. The Raiders have four negative-scoring outings, which came against the Commanders, Colts, Chiefs and Eagles.
In week 17, the Raiders are matched up with the New York Giants. The Giants are scoring 20.9 points per game, which is below-average. Starting quarterback Jaxson Dart continues to get injured and the offense struggles to find consistency. The Raiders could have a decent game against the Giants. They are rostered in 10.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Cowboys have a bad fantasy defense this season, ranking 31st at 2.1 points per game. They have three double-digit games this season: vs. the Commanders, the Cardinals and the Raiders. Seven of their games have resulted in negative points: vs. the Giants, Bears, Packers, Panthers, Broncos, Lions and Chargers.
This week, the Cowboys play the Washington Commanders. Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels has been hurt. The Commanders are scoring 20.6 points per game, but that’s even with Daniels being healthy. Dallas’s defense has been bad, but it is slim pickens’ this week. They are rostered in 25.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
Cincinnati has the worst fantasy defense in the league, ranking 32nd in the league at 1.9 points per game. Their one double-digit scoring performance was against the Ravens. They have four negative-scoring games, which were against the Vikings, Broncos, Jets and Bears.
The week 17 matchup for the Bengals is with the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals score 21.4 points per game, which makes them a below-average offense. Cincinnati should only play in desperation, but they could have a decent game up against Jacoby Brissett. They are rostered in 3.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Titans rank 25th as a fantasy defense at 4.4 points per game. They have two double-digit scoring games, which were against the Chiefs and Chargers. Three of their games were negative-scoring ones against the Colts (twice) and 49ers.
This week, the Titans play the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are playing better with Tyler Shough under center, but he is still a rookie and has made mistakes in the past. They could force some turnovers and have a decent day. The Titans are rostered in 10.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
