Fantasy Football Defenses to Stream Week 16

One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 16. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)

1. Green Bay Packers

The Packers have had a below-average fantasy season, ranking 24th at 5.4 points per game. They have four double-digit scoring performances, which were against the Bears, Raiders, Rams and Lions. Green Bay has not registered a negative-scoring games this season.

In week 16, the Packers play the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers score just 14.6 points per game, which ranks 29th in the league. Green Bay will be trying to make a push for the playoffs and will want to improve their defensive performance in this game. They are rostered in 46 percent of ESPN leagues.

2. Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis has had a good season defensively, ranking sixth at 8.6 points per game. They have six double-digit scoring games on the year: Jaguars, Panthers, Patriots, Buccaneers, Titans and Steelers. Their two negative-scoring games were against the Rams and Saints.

This week, the Colts play the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons score 18.4 points per game, ranking 26th in the league. Atlanta has turned things back to Desmond Ridder, who has struggled this season. They have scored just 15 points per game over the last three games. The Colts are rostered in just 37.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Denver Broncos

Denver has had a solid fantasy season, ranking 18th at 5.9 points per game. They have three double-digit scoring games, which were against the Chiefs, Browns and Chargers. Their two negative-scoring games were against the Lions and Dolphins.

The Broncos play the Patriots in week 16. New England ranks last in the league scoring just 13.3 points per game. Denver has motivation to play well, as they’re still in contention for the playoffs. They can have a good game against the Patriots as they make their playoff push. The Broncos are rostered in 14.7 percent of ESPN leagues.

4. Washington Commanders

Washington has had a bad fantasy defense, ranking last in the league at 2.3 points per game. They have scored double-digit points two times this season: against the Cardinals and Giants. The Commanders have six negative-scoring games on the year.

In week 16, the Commanders match up with the New York Jets. Zach Wilson left the week 15 game with a head injury and Trevor Siemian was inserted into the lineup. The Jets score 14.4 points per game, which ranks 30th in the league. Even a bad defense like the Commanders can have a solid game. They are rostered in 15.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

5. Detroit Lions

The Lions have had a below-average fantasy defense, ranking 26th at 5.2 points per game. They have scored double-digit points in three different games this season, which were against the Falcons, Packers and Raiders. Detroit has scored negative points in four games this season.

This week, the Lions play the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have turned things over to Nick Mullens on offense and the offense has been inconsistent. Detroit can at least have a decent game against Minnesota. They are rostered in 30.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
