2023 Fantasy Football Mock Draft: August Edition

Publish Date: August 15, 2023

Fantasy football season is getting closer and closer. Every year millions of people play fantasy and with that comes the prep work to make sure that every draft is one that can produce a champion. This article will go through and show what happened in an ESPN 2023 fantasy football mock draft and analyze the results. This is for a 10-team, standard-scoring league. Here is the 2023 fantasy football mock draft: August edition.

2023 Fantasy Football Mock Draft

Team 1

Roster: QB Deshaun Watson, RB Christian McCaffrey, RB Jonathan Taylor, WR Amari Cooper, WR Keenan Allen, TE David Njoku, RB Najee Harris, 49ers D/ST, K Evan McPherson, RB Isiah Pacheco, WR Brandin Cooks, WR Gabe Davis, RB Brian Robinson, D/ST Steelers, TE Greg Dulcich, WR Kadarius Toney

Team 1 is putting a lot of faith in some questionable things. First, Deshaun Watson is going to have to knock off some rust at the quarterback position. In addition to that, Jonathan Taylor’s situation is up in the air right now after he requested a trade. There is a lot of risk with this team, but the reward could be great.

Team 2

Roster: QB Lamar Jackson, RB Josh Jacobs, RB Travis Etienne, WR Justin Jefferson, WR DeAndre Hopkins, TE T.J. Hockenson, RB James Conner, Ravens D/ST, K Justin Tucker, RB James Cook, WR Skyy Moore, WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, RB Jerick McKinnon, RB Elijah Mitchell, TE Taysom Hill, WR Allen Lazard

This team will need Lamar Jackson to stay healthy to be successful. They also are pretty thin at the wide receiver position behind Justin Jefferson and DeAndre Hopkins. If one goes down, the depth will be relied on and it could cause disaster. If the team can stay relatively healthy though, they can compete well.

Team 3

Roster: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Austin Ekeler, RB Miles Sanders, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR Christian Watson, TE Pat Freiermuth, RB Alexander Mattison, Cowboys D/ST, K Eddy Piniero, WR Mike Evans, WR Treylon Burks, WR Jordan Addison, WR Jakobi Meyers, RB Zach Charbonnet, WR D.J. Chark, WR Tyler Boyd

WR2 will be a revolving door for this fantasy manager. Other than that though, the team is constructed well. Pat Mahomes can help carry this team to the playoffs.

Team 4

Roster: QB Trevor Lawrence, RB Tony Pollard, RB Jahmyr Gibbs, WR Ja’Marr Chase, WR Jaylen Waddle, TE Mark Andrews, WR Terry McLaurin, Browns D/ST, K Matt Gay, QB Tua Tagovailoa, WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba, WR Michael Thomas, RB Jamaal Williams, RB Raheem Mostert, WR Darnell Mooney, TE Tyler Higbee

Team 4 aced this draft. Pollard and Gibbs are dynamic running backs. Chase and Waddle were very productive last year and look like they can do the same this season. Being able to rotate Trevor Lawrence and Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback should work out well.

Team 5

Roster: QB Justin Herbert, RB Nick Chubb, RB Aaron Jones, WR A.J. Brown, WR Chris Olave, TE George Kittle, WR Jerry Jeudy, Saints D/ST, K Younghoe Koo, WR Christian Kirk, RB Javonte Williams, QB Daniel Jones, RB Khalil Herbert, RB Antonio Gibson, WR Elijah Moore, WR KJ Osborn

Team 5 is decently well built. They’ll need Aaron Jones to keep up his production level with Aaron Rodgers gone. This team will also need Chris Olave to thrive a lot like he did last season. If both those things happen, the team can make the playoffs.

Team 6

Roster: QB Joe Burrow, RB Derrick Henry, RB Rhamondre Stevenson, WR Stefon Diggs, WR DK Metcalf, TE Kyle Pitts, WR Diontae Johnson, Dolphins D/ST, K Jason Myers, WR Tyler Lockett, RB Dalvin Cook, QB Kirk Cousins, TE Cole Kmet, RB Jeff Wilson Jr., QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Nico Collins

The starting lineup of this team is great, but the lack of depth is going to kill it. Rostering three quarterbacks and two tight ends in a 10 team league will make it difficult to endure bye weeks and injuries.

Team 7

Roster: QB Justin Fields, RB Joe Mixon, RB Breece Hall, WR Cooper Kupp, WR CeeDee Lamb, TE Chig Okonkwo, RB Rachaad White, Jets D/ST, K Tyler Bass, WR Brandon Aiyuk, WR George Pickens, RB JK Dobbins, RB D’Andre Swift, WR Zay Flowers, QB Anthony Richardson, WR Romeo Doubs

Team 7 has plenty of risk involved. Breece Hall still hasn’t been cleared after tearing his ACL last season. Cooper Kupp missed a lot of last season as well. The depth should be able to cover in case those players aren’t back to form right away, but if they cant produce for an extended period of time, the team is screwed.

Team 8

Roster: QB Jalen Hurts, RB Dameon Pierce, RB Cam Akers, WR Garrett Wilson, WR Calvin Ridley, TE Travis Kelce, WR Mike Williams, Patriots D/ST, K Harrison Butker, WR Drake London, WR Courtland Sutton, RB A.J. Dillon, TE Dalton Schultz, RB Samaje Perine, QB Geno Smith, WR Adam Thielen

Running back depth is a problem for Team 8 as well. Only having two part-time running backs behind starters could cause some issues. Having elite players at the quarterback and tight end position should help them compete regardless.

Team 9

Roster: QB Josh Allen, RB Kenneth Walker, RB Alvin Kamara, WR Tyreek Hill, WR Davante Adams, TE Dallas Goedert, WR Deebo Samuel, Packers D/ST, K Graham Gano, RB David Montgomery, WR Michael Pittman, TE Evan Engram, WR Odell Beckham Jr., RB Rashaad Penny, QB Russell Wilson, WR Michael Gallup

Like Team 8, Team 9 has running back depth issues. While Kenneth Walker is fine, Alvin Kamara is facing a possible suspension. Only having David Montgomery and Rashaad Penny on the bench could make it a long season for Team 9.

Team 10

Roster: QB Dak Prescott, RB Saquon Barkley, RB Bijan Robinson, WR Tee Higgins, WR Devonta Smith, TE Darren Waller, WR D.J. Moore, Bills D/ST, K Daniel Carlson, WR Chris Godwin, WR Marquise Brown, WR Jahan Dotson, WR Quentin Johnston, WR Rondale Moore, RB Kenneth Gainwell, TE Dalton Kincaid

The starting lineup for Team 10 is capable of winning a championship. Like other teams just mentioned, running back depth could be an issue. Only having three running backs on the roster in a 10-team league is a risk and this manager will need to flip some wide receivers for running backs. Doing so could win this team the hypothetical championship.
