2021 Fantasy Football Mock Draft: August Edition

Publish Date: August 18, 2021

Fantasy football season is getting closer and closer. Every year millions of people play fantasy and with that comes the prep work to make sure that every draft is one that can produce a champion. This article will go through and show what happened in an ESPN 2021 fantasy football mock draft and analyze the results. This is for a 10-team, standard scoring league. Here is the 2021 fantasy football mock draft: August edition.

Team 1

Team number one had the first pick, pick number 20, 21, etc. The teams following this one will follow the draft order.

Roster: QB Dak Prescott, RB Christian McCaffrey, RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, WR D.K. Metcalf, WR Amari Cooper, TE Noah Fant, RB Chris Carson, D/ST Buccaneers, K Tyler Bass, WR Ja’Marr Chase, WR Brandin Cooks, WR Jalen Reagor, WR Cole Beasley, TE Irv Smith Jr., TE Tyler Higbee, RB Alexander Mattison

Team 1 has a huge point-getter at quarterback in Dak Prescott, three solid running backs and solid wide receivers. The team doesn’t have much running back depth, which could really hurt down the stretch. If the team stays healthy, they can make the playoffs.

Team 2

Roster: QB Lamar Jackson, RB Dalvin Cook, RB Miles Sanders, WR Calvin Ridley, WR Tee Higgins, TE George Kittle, RB Darrell Henderson, D/ST Steelers, K Greg Zuerlein, WR Michael Gallup, WR Laviska Shenault, WR Corey Davis, RB Leonard Fournette, WR DeVante Parker, TE Rob Gronkowski, RB Nyheim Hines

This team is really reliante on Lamar Jackson and George Kittle producing. Dalvin Cook also has to stay healthy. Miles Sanders and Tee HIggins really need to pull their weight to help this team. That’s a lot to ask, but the team can be competitive if Jackson can return to his 2019 form.

Team 3

Roster: QB Ryan Tannehill, RB Derrick Henry, RB Austin Ekeler, WR Robert Woods, WR Chris Godwin, TE T.J. Hockenson, RB David Montgomery, D/ST Ravens, K Graham Gano, WR Brandon Aiyuk, WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR Michael Thomas, RB Melvin Gordon III, WR T.Y. Hilton, TE Evan Engram, WR Nelson Agholor

With Derrick Henry, Austin Ekeler and David Montgomery, this team is set at running back. The other positions are lacking though. They have a lower-end starter in fantasy in Tannehill. At wide receiver, Woods and Godwin are both good, but neither are WR1s. This team will struggle to compete.

Team 4

Roster: QB Tom Brady, RB Ezekiel Elliott, RB Joe Mixon, WR D.J. Moore, WR Tyler Lockett, TE Logan Thomas, RB Josh Jacobs, D/ST Bills, K Younghoe Koo, WR Diontae Johnson, WR Will Fuller V, WR Marvin Jones Jr., RB A.J. Dillon, RB Phillip Lindsay, RB Trey Sermon, WR Michael Pittman Jr.

This team is relying on Ezekiel Elliot and Joe Mixon to bounce back and to stay healthy. On top of that, Tom Brady can’t hang on forever as a viable fantasy quarterback and there isn’t a true WR1. Team 4 likely won’t be making the playoffs.

Team 5

Roster: QB Justin Herbert, RB Aaron Jones, RB D’Andre Swift, WR A.J. Brown, WR Julio Jones, TE Travis Kelce, WR Courtland Sutton, D/ST Washington Football Team, K Jason Sanders, WR Jerry Jeudy, WR Marquise Brown, WR Jarvis Landry, QB Jalen Hurts, RB James Conner, RB Devin Singletary, WR Jakobi Meyers

Running back depth will eventually get this team in trouble. So too will having two starting receivers from the same team. Travis Kelce helps at tight end, but it won’t matter if Aaron Jones and/or D’Andre Swift get injured. Team 5 likely will have a tough time competing as well.

Team 6

Roster: QB Russell Wilson, RB Nick Chubb, RB Antonio Gibson, WR Keenan Allen, WR Allen Robinson, TE Adam Trautman, RB Chase Edmonds, D/ST Rams, K Matt Gay, WR Odell Beckham Jr., RB Mike Davis, RB Raheem Mostert, WR Jaylen Waddle, RB Michael Carter, WR Mecole Hardman, RB Gus Edwards

Team 6 lacks a good tight end and will have to stream them. That isn’t the worst strategy if a manager can’t draft one of the top tight ends. Keenan Allen and Allen Robinson aren’t WR1s, but they are both really good WR2s. With Russell Wilson at quarterback, this team should compete for the title.

Team 7

Roster: QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Alvin Kamara, RB Javonte Williams, WR Stefon Diggs, WR Justin Jefferson, TE Mark Andrews, WR Mike Evans, D/ST 49ers, K Brandon McManus, WR Robby Anderson, WR Deebo Samuel, RB Myles Gaskin, TE Robert Tonyan, RB Kenyan Drake, RB David Johnson, WR Elijah Moore

If Javonte Williams can take over the Broncos’ backfield, this team is set. They have a good quarterback, great receivers and a solid tight end. The team could use some more running back depth, but if Myles Gaskin can keep hold of the Dolphins’ backfield they will be fine. This team should make the playoffs.

Team 8

Roster: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Saquon Barkley, RB Kareem Hunt, WR DeAndre Hopkins, WR Adam Thielen, TE Kyle Pitts, WR Chase Claypool, D/ST Broncos, K Jason Myers, RB Damien Harris, WR DeVonta Smith, WR Henry Ruggs III, TE Dallas Goedert, RB Ronald Jones, QB Joe Burrow

Team 8 is one of the best in the league. With Patrick Mahomes, Saquon Barkley and DeAndre Hopkins, they have a few potential high-scorers. The team could use another running back, but other than that, they are well-balanced in the starting lineup and should be one of the favorites to win it all.

Team 9

Roster: QB Kyler Murray, RB Jonathan Taylor, RB Najee Harris, WR CeeDee Lamb, WR Cooper Kupp, TE Darren Waller, RB Travis Etienne Jr., D/ST Browns, K Harrison Butker, WR Mike Williams, RB Zack Moss, WR Antonio Brown, RB Jamaal Williams, QB Matthew Stafford, WR Russell Gage, RB Malcolm Brown

If Team 9 had better receivers, they would be one of the best teams in the league. CeeDee Lamb is great, but will have to split targets with the other talented Dallas receivers. Cooper Kupp should have a solid season with Matthew Stafford, but is still likely far from a WR1 in this league. Najee Harris also will have to prove effective despite not having a great line. Even so, this team should fight for a playoff spot.

Team 10

Roster: QB Josh Allen, RB JK Dobbins, RB James Robinson, WR Davante Adams, WR Tyreek Hill, TE Mike Gesicki, WR Terry McLaurin, D/ST Patriots, K Justin Tucker, WR Kenny Golladay, WR D.J. Chark, WR Tyler Boyd, WR Curtis Samuel, TE Jonnu Smith, QB Trevor Lawrence, WR Darnell Mooney

Simply put, Team 10 just can’t make the playoffs without some trades. They have two running backs on the entire roster and need to flip one of their many talented wide receivers for more running back depth. One injury and the season is likely ruined.
