Fantasy Baseball Players to Add and Drop April 25

Fantasy Baseball Players to Add and Drop

This article is best used for 12 man head to head point leagues.

Add and Drop

The top notch fantasy baseball players have already been added off waivers but here are three players to add and three to drop.

To be on the add list a player has to be owned in 60 percent of leagues or less.

To be on the drop list a player has to be owned in 60 percent of leagues or more.

Add of The Week: Domingo German, SP, New York Yankees:

German likes to strike batters out and has the pitches to do it. He throws his fastball and sinker in the mid 90s, and a change up that averages 88 mph. The strikeout pitches though are his curve and the slider which he throws almost 40 percent of the time. German has been throwing the curve a lot recently and his accuracy is the reason he has an uptick in swinging strikes. The batter can’t hit the ball when he is able to locate this pitch perfectly down in the strike zone.

German is owned in ~60 percent of ESPN leagues and is being added left and right in hopes, his solid year continues.  He needs to be added.

Add: Ryan Pressly, RP, Houston Astros

Courtesy of: The Houston Chronicles

Pressly has faced 32 batters and only allowed three of them on base. He throws a first-pitch strike about 70 percent of the time forcing the batter to lose confidence and swing more often. He allows contact on 73 percent of pitches thrown however the batter hasn’t been able to hit the ball hard or catch a break against the Houston defense.

Pressly is the setup man for the Astros and needs to be picked up in leagues that reward points for holds.

Pressly has an ownership percentage of 13 in ESPN leagues.

Add: Jeff McNeil, 2B/3B/OF, New York Mets

McNeil so far has been overshadowed by fellow Mets rookie Peter Alonso, however, the utility man proves valuable. His ranks at his three positions are 10th for 2B, 14th for 3B, and 40th for OF. McNeil has been on base 45 percent of the time hitting mostly singles or walking but has yet to record a steal. He looks to keep things going well after hitting his first home run of 2019 on Monday and should improve on steals if he stays on base.

McNeil is a solid player that will take the field almost every day and earn fantasy points. He will finish better than Jurickson Profar, Kevin Kiermaier and Brian Dozier.

McNeil has an ownership percentage of 59 in ESPN leagues.

Drop of The Week: Kyle Schwarber

People drafted Schwarber in hopes he could hit 25 home runs and get close to 100 RBI. However, he has started off slow by striking out more while getting on base only 26 percent of the time. Schwarber likely won’t reach 100 RBI and probably won’t hit 20 home runs.

The stats show he needs to be dropped right now.

Schwarber has an ownership percentage of 67 in ESPN leagues.

Drop: Jurickson Profar, SS/1B/2B/3B, Oakland Athletics

Profar has struggled early on and is hitting .167 with an OBP of .209. He has 13 strikeouts compared to 15 hits. In 2018 Profar showed he has power by hitting 20 home runs. Outside of 2018, he has never shown a solid ability to hit and, 2019 has not been going well for him.

With four playable positions, he does have value and might be a trade low candidate, but just hasn’t done enough to stay on a fantasy team.

Profar has an ownership percentage of 77 in ESPN leagues.

Drop: Ian Desmond, 1B/OF, Colorado Rockies

Desmond regressed in 2017 and ended up playing only 95 games. But in 2018 Desmond looked much more like he did while playing with the Nationals a couple of years ago. He had 22 home runs, 82 runs scored, 88 RBI, and 20 stolen bases. Unfortunately for Desmond and fantasy owners, 2019 is looking like 2017 and not 2018. Through 83 plate appearances, he has 17 hits and one home run. He has struck out 23 times and only walked three times.

It’s been rough for Desmond and he probably won’t get back to his career averages this year and is worth a drop.

Desmond has an ownership percentage 63 in ESPN leagues.
