On September 1st, CyberPower PC is holding a duo tournament for PUBG. They are holding this tournament so that they can contract a competitive four person squad to compete under their name at much larger events.
It all started in the spring of 2018. Duos could sign up for qualifying tournaments through Battlefy. Both placement and kills equated to points that the team would earn on the overall leaderboard. Each qualifier had a prize pool of $100, but that is nothing compared to the $100,000 squad contract that will be offered at this final event on September 1st.
Overall, there were 45 qualifying tournaments. When the final leaderboards were determined, the top 40 teams were invited to compete in the final event. It is located at the LA County Fair in Pomona, CA. As of August 31st, 27 teams could make the trip and will be competing for the contract.
Even though there is a large monetary reward for the winners, this tournament is different than the others we have seen lately. This tournament is letting rookies and small PUBG teams compete for something greater. They get to compete at a large event and get the LAN experience that can help them in their future. They also get to put their name out there in ways they may not have been able to before.
This event is a chance to help out the lesser known players. We can find the golden gems in the PUBG community. While the large teams who compete at PGI and other large events are great, these duos are proving their worth to the PUBG competitive scene. Supporting smaller tournaments like this one is vital to do in order for us to continue seeing these events. This duo tournament for PUBG will be something you will not want to miss.
If you get the chance, tune into the live stream of the event at twitch.tv/cyberpowergaming and support these duo teams. The stream will begin around 11:00 AM PDT and they will play six rounds.
