PUBG: Ninjas in Pyjamas to Restructure Team

Publish Date: July 27, 2018

After recently announcing their Fortnite team, Ninjas in Pyjamas have made the decision to restructure their PUBG team. They are releasing Stian “Borg” Borg, their sniper and having Oliver “Ollywood” Tell be a part of their second competitive lineup. Drew “Sweaterr” Miser and Karl John “Ekkz” Kallevik will be staying on the main roster.

“After joining the PUBG scene in the last quarter of 2017, the team has had its ups and downs. After a few rough months, the players and organization decided it was time for a change.” -NiP

The team has struggled to get a footing ever since they were announced. They were able to make it into IEM Oakland but, only finished in 16th out of 20 teams. They were able to finish second and third in rounds three and four of that tournament. Their main issue was that they struggled to get kills. They were only able to accrue 17 total kills in the eight rounds and were shutout in four of the rounds.

It is clear that this team needed to make some changes as they did not make it even into the qualifiers for the PUBG Global Invitational.

“Ninjas in Pyjamas are dedicated to building teams that can contend for the top spot in every game we participate in. With that comes patience but also knowing when it’s time to bring in new blood to the line-up.”

With this statement, it is expected that they are going to be looking for young talent that they can train up themselves. Surround by Sweaterr and Ekkz for one team and Ollywood for the other it will be interesting to see what effect they have on the new players that will be brought it.

What also can’t be ignored is that NiP plan on having two separate teams. We are currently seeing Gen.G do this with their Black and Gold teams. It is working out well for them. NiP will be hoping to see some similar results.
