Pokemon: WBE Draft League Prepares to Launch its Star-Studded Third Season

Publish Date: June 2, 2019

The World Battle Entertainment is one of the premier draft leagues in the competitive Pokemon community. After a brief detour to the Let’s Go games, the league returns to the 3DS for one final tournament to say farewell to the 3DS era of Pokemon. 28 teams and coaches will battle it out for the first ever WBE championship belt and the right to be crowned the 3DS’ third and final champion.

An All-Star Cast

Not only is the roster for WBE’s season three even bigger than before, but a ton of these teams are being piloted by names you probably recognize. What’s cool about this league is that it is a star-studded combination from all sides of the competitive Pokemon community.

From the singles side we’ve got names like PokeaimMD, Emvee and Gator. There are also some popular content creators and streamers like aDrive, MrTalent, DuncanCantDie and TheHeatedMo. There’s even some representation from the VGC community with some of the scene’s best in Aaron “Cybertron” Zheng and Wolfe “Wolfey’ Glick.

Speaking of Glick, he’s not only a multiple-time champion over in the VGC scene, he’s also the reigning, two-time WBE champion.

Who Will Take Down Wolfe Glick?

Glick has proven twice now that VGC players aren’t all about double battles. They certainly can hang in the singles game too. In season one, Glick managed to take down one of the draft league format’s most seasoned players in Pokemen who will be returning this season to the WBE as the coach of the New Orleans Pelippers. Season two saw Glick take down the league’s very own organizer, aDrive, who will also be returning this season as the coach of the Minnesota Vikavolts.

Glick’s dominance will likely continue into the third season as he has shown that he can adapt to having to switch up his teams and strategies between seasons. It’ll be interesting to see if he’ll have to overcome any rematches on his way to the finals, or if one of the league’s new additions will be his downfall.

Where to Catch all the Action

The championship belt.

The league will officially kick off June 8, with a two-day draft that will be hosted by aDrive on his Twitch channel joined by co-commentator, PokeaimMD. After the draft concludes, the battle for the coveted gold championship belt will begin this summer.

Now, the only way to keep up with all of the action from the WBE is to follow all of the leagues respective creators, which will be uploading each of their matches and teambuilding sessions to their individual channels. Check out the official season three reveal trailer here for a complete list of coaches with their channels linked in the video description. Other than that, you can subscribe to the WBE YouTube channel and follow their Twitter account for polls, updates and all things having to do with the league.

It should be a fun season to watch.
