Overwatch Summer Games 2017 checklist

Six Events and we’ve returned to the Summer Games

Summer Games 2016 was a rather strong opening for Overwatch. Just as the original game was getting stale, the inclusion of events opened a lot of eyes to the potential of the game. Skins, sprays, emotes and voicelines. Oh my! Add in that you could only get them from specific loot boxes meant a huge surge for players hungry for content.

completion, list, summer, games, lucio, ball, overwatchA year later, that first update set the precedent for every event then after. It was the only event where people were unable to buy the skins with in-game currency. That changed immediately in the next event and showed just how quick Blizzard was to listen to the community. It built trust in the player base at large with the development team.

Now though, it’s up to the community to build the checklists for these events. Grabbing all the skins isn’t an easy feat but more so the voicelines, emotes, highlight intros – just about everything else (outside of the player icons because those are something people cannot buy) is for sale.

So here’s the list for the Summer Games 2017

New Skins

  • Junkrat
  • McCree
  • Mercy
  • Reaper
  • Soldier
  • Sombra
  • Pharah

 New Victory Poses

  • Bastion
  • Hanzo
  • Sombra
  • Junkrat
  • Symmetra
  • Mercy
  • Tracer
  • Pharah
  • Widowmaker

 New Highlight Intros and Emotes

  • Hanzo
  • Pharah
  • Ana

New Sprays

  • Sombra
  • Orisa
  • Doomfist

You can also buy the skins, victory poses, highlight intros, emotes, sprays and voice lines from the previous event in 2016 now that the exclusivity has been removed from them. We’re leaving out voice lines because everyone gets a new one and the old ones are re-opened for purchase.

While all these items are optional, gathering them all up costs 26925 currency, which is obscene. The good news is the arcade has Lucioball with a lemon twist. It has a competitive side now with people openly competing for top spots on the leaderboards. No doubt Blizzard likely has a plan for the top players like an exclusive spray. As always, aim for the skins first and work your way down the ladder. Completionists tend to go overboard so this is the best aid any one can get.

Must Haves

Incredible favorites immediately go to Zarya for the famous “It’s only game, why you heff to be mad,” quote which will invariably be heard during any one of the tournaments coming up thanks to the Zarya buff. The Soldier:76 skin also stands out as a must have based simply on the dialogue changing to refreshment instead of healing and numerous cooking lines. As always, it’s a treat to find some levity in the game that seems created to infuriate at times. Sometimes it’s best to just remember this is just a game and not a lifestyle.
