BREAKING: Overwatch League: Season 2 Talent Team Announced

Publish Date: February 5, 2019

The Overwatch League has announced their talent team for the 2019 season. Many familiar faces will be returning to provide commentary and analysis for every match, while several new additions bolster the group.

Four caster teams will provide commentary throughout the matches. Veteran casters Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles and Erik “DoA” Lonnquist return to the fold, adding another year to their respective esports histories. Mitch “Uber” Leslie and Matt “Mr X” Morello join them, as do Auguste “Semmler” Massonnat and Robert “Hexagrams” Kirkbride. All six casters kept fans afloat throughout season 1, and they’ll continue breaking down the onstage happenings this season.

Wolf “Wolf” Schröder and Seth “Achilios” King join the casting crew for the season. The pair most recently provided the English cast for Contenders Korea, but they have a long history of esports commentary. Both will be returning to the United States after living in Seoul for years, and will bring ample knowledge of the Korean Overwatch scene.

Most of season 1’s analyst crew will return to the desk for another round with the Overwatch League. Chris “Puckett” Puckett, Josh “Sideshow” Wilkinson, and Brennon “Bren” Hook were all included in the announcement, marking their second season with the league. Additionally, hosts Malik Forté and Soe Gschwind will return to the stage.

Blizzard’s press release made sure to mention former analyst Jonathan “Reinforce” Larsson, who will not be returning to the desk. Despite his departure, the press release hinted that he will appear in some capacity during the season, along with other guests. Host Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez, who recently took a job hosting sports competition show The Titan Games, was not mentioned in the press release, leaving questions about his future in the Overwatch League.

Insiders

Blizzard also announced a new group of league insiders, who will take a central role interviewing players. Mica Burton made a name for herself hosting season 2 of Contenders North America and the Overwatch World Cup’s Bangkok qualifier, and will continue her esports journey with the Overwatch League. Emily Tang also worked as an interviewer at the world cup, and has also worked as an NBA reporter and a red carpet correspondent. As an insider, she will focus on the league’s Chinese teams.

Rounding out the insider crew is Danny Lim, who became well-known as a translator during season 1 of the Overwatch League. He will expand on that presence this season, serving as the Korean insider for the league.
