One of the main things Overwatch fans have been waiting for is a plan. A way for them to look ahead and see what is coming. Communication by the Overwatch 2 dev team and the fans has been underwhelming at best. During the Overwatch 2 Reveal Event though, a path was finally laid out. Fans now know what to expect for not only the rest of the year but also some of 2023. Here is a look at the Overwatch 2 Roadmap for 2022 and part of one for 2023.

Overwatch 2 will be going away from the Loot Box method and instead will be instituting a Battle Pass. To integrate that more easily, there will be seasons added to Overwatch. Every nine weeks there will be a brand new season and there will be a new hero or map added on alternating seasons. That means a new hero every 18 weeks. The Overwatch 2 dev team revealed more below.

The first season and official launch for Overwatch 2 PvP will be on October 4. Along with this will come season 1 which will bring with it three new heroes, Sojourn, Junker queen and the Kanezaka Fox support hero that has been teased but not revealed. There will also be six new maps, four of which have been seen along with Rio de Janiero and Portugal. Lastly, it will bring with it new skins, the first-ever Battle Pass, Mythic Skins and Push Mode.

There is no doubt that fans have been waiting for this moment for a while. Luckily for them the roadmap continues. A completely brand new and not teased Tank hero will come with Season 2 along with a new map, battle pass and so much more.

Then to end the roadmap, they teased the 2023 schedule. Overwatch 2 will finally release its new PvE story mode and continue to be a live-service game for the first time in nearly three years.

It truly is a new era for Overwatch as Overwatch 2 brings will it so many additions. The game that so many loved is being brought into the modern era of gaming and in a very significant way.
