With Blizzcon coming up, there was always a chance the information they were planning on showing off would leak. It would seem as though the next tank hero is likely the next victim. Here is a look at the latest Overwatch 2 Mauga Leaks and what could be coming during Blizzcon.

The major Overwatch 2 Mauga Leaks comes from a teaser on the Nintendo Switch. Somehow the image was leaked for an advertisement to get people to tryout the next hero in Overwatch 2. Check out the image below.
In the past, it was clear that double Gatling guns were Mauga’s weapons of choice. This was seen in the comic “What You Left Behind” where he and Baptiste were working together with Talon. Many assumed that this would be the case and now it is likely confirmed.
Along with this, the Samoa map clearly indicated where Overwatch 2 was heading next. It is not often that a map is directly associated with a hero or at least in back-to-back seasons. That being said, with the new release schedule this could end up being the case.
As of now there is now much that is known about the Overwatch 2 Mauga Abilities. There are some guesses though.
One could be that his guns can overcharge and fire much faster. He already looks like a more offensive-oriented tank. This would give him plenty of firepower for a brief time and likely some sort of debuff. Maybe he moves slower or takes more damage while doing it?
Another will likely be some sort of defensive ability. It doesn’t seem as though he will have a shield. Maybe a buff similar to Orisa’s or a heal like Roadhogs?
Lastly, there is the fact that he is from Samoa and could have something to do with the ocean or fishing as that is a major part of the island culture. It would be interesting to see how they would explain him summoning a wave or something like that but it would certainly be unique in terms of AOE, CC or both.
The Overwatch 2 Mauga release date will be an easy one. He is coming with Season 8 which is expected to hit on December 5, 2023. That being said, it looks as though according to the leak he will be available to test out during Blizzcon. It will be interesting to see how fans react to him then being locked back up for about a month until his eventual release.
