Leading up to the launch of Overwatch 2’s Invasion season, there has been a lot of mystery leading up to it. A person known as The Enigma has been teasing and “leaking” information regarding Season 6. It just so happens that The Enigma is none other than John Cena himself. Does this mean John Cena is coming to Overwatch 2?
As it currently stands, Blizzard has no intentions to bring Cena into Overwatch 2. Not as The Enigma or even himself. With it being Blizzard’s first time using a real-life public figure to promote a season of Overwatch, a lot of speculation came about whether the WWE Superstar would be a playable character. For the most part, it seems Cena is just a marketing stunt to bring more eyes to the 5v5 title.
Currently on Twitter, Overwatch 2 has been posting memes and funny content surrounding The Enigma. Most of these jokes are surrounded by the fact that nobody can see John Cena, his trademark while being in the WWE. Even in one of these posts, Blizzard confirms the fact that The Enigma wouldn’t be coming to the game.
While John Cena might not be making an appearance any time soon, someone else is. Recently revealed by Blizzard, support hero Illari will be the newest hero added to the game. She will be a healing support that is supposedly from Peru and inspired by the Incan people of ancient times from that area. Everything she does is related to the sun and its healing and damaging properties.
It looks as if she will be joining in the story missions as well and fits the last bit of news that the devs gave about the support heroes. She is likely younger in age and a new hero coming to the world of Overwatch 2. Illari is the second to last hero being added in 2023.
