New York Excelsior: Stage 2 Week 2 Preview

Publish Date: April 9, 2019

After an explosive return to the Overwatch League stage, the NYXL’s second week brings along another two games. This week, the Excelsior are set to go up against two of the lowest ranked teams in the league at this time, so chances are that this week will result in another two wins under New York’s belt.

The Washington Justice, despite their notable improvement from Stage One, are definitely not in the shape it takes to overtake the New York Excelsior. After falling to claim victory over both the Atlanta Regin and the Chengdu Hunters last week, the Justice would have to have a major miracle for much to go their way. Expect the NYXL to dominate this match.

Prediction: NYXL wins 3-1

The Florida Mayhem have their own issues. The Mayhem, having undergone major changes within the organization and other internal drama last week, are sure to look uncertain after such a busy week. Already having lost 1-3 to the Philadelphia Fusion last week – who the NYXL were able to achieve a clean 4-0 victory against – things definitely aren’t looking too great for Florida.

Prediction: NYXL wins 4-0

Tae-Hong “MekO” Kim, who was named MVP in the NYXL’s matchup against the Shanghai Dragons, is definitely the player to keep an eye on this week. Watching MekO play and grow each week is beyond impressive. His performance in-game has only gotten better as the season has progressed, and fans should definitely expect to see some more massive MekO Bombs this week.
