Week 3 of the League Championship Series kicked off with reigning champions Team Liquid taking on FlyQuest. Team Liquid was looking to break free from the pack and hoping to achieve their first 2-0 week of the Split. FlyQuest, were looking to gain momentum after starting the season 1-3. They desperately needed a victory this weekend to keep up with the chasing pack.
Draft Phase
The pick and ban phase was nothing short of excitement from the sides of Team Liquid and FlyQuest. Omran “V1per” Shoura once again was on his signature champion Riven which typically bodes well with FlyQuest’s all in composition. Team Liquid went for a more standard split pushing composition with powerful solo lanes.
Team Liquid also went for Caitlyn and Lux, taking a page out of Optic Gaming’s playbook who played the same bot lane into FlyQuest in Week 2.
Early Game
FlyQuest were on a mission to ensure Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen never got going in this game. They did so quickly with two perfectly timed ganks from both Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen and Juan “JayJ” Guibert to race Eugene”Pobelter” Park out to a pretty substantial lead as the game hit the fifth-minute mark.
The game was nothing short of action packed within the first ten minutes. Despite having a large deficit in the mid lane Jake Kevin “Xmithie” Puchero and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in were able to orchestrate a couple of crucial plays to claw Team Liquid back into the game. The true power of the Caitlyn pick was on display this game. Yillang “Doublelift” Peng with the help of CoreJJ was able to take down the bottom lane tier one tower and had taken a couple of turret plates as the laning phase came to a close.
Late(r) Game
The power of the Caitlyn got Team Liquid out to a 2k gold lead as the mid-game was approaching. Flyquest, however, sprung into life with a crucial kill onto Doublelift. This allowed FlyQuest to secure Baron despite losing multiple members in the process.

Despite snatching Baron away from TL it was only a consolation prize on the side of FlyQuest. It allowed them to regain control in the side lanes but, at this point in the game Team Liquid had grown their lead to a 4k advantage. Most of this gold was on Doublelift so a pick onto Caitlyn would be crucial.
Although a valiant effort Team Liquid were able to find the team fight they needed with a huge four for nothing team fight which resulted in Team Liquid picking up Baron Nashor and improving their record to 3-2, leaving FlyQuest at a miserable 1-4 record.

Conclusion
FlyQuest did not learn from their mistakes against Optic Gaming. They could not get going against Noh “Arrow” Dong-Hyeon and Terry “Big” Chuong last week so there was no question they should not have given the best bottom lane in the league an extremely powerful duo. Team Liquid fans will feel some relief after what was a shaky first ten minutes in the mid lane for Jensen. FlyQuest will have to shake this loss off heading into Sunday as they come up against Clutch Gaming.
