League of Legends: LCK Spring Split Awards (Part 2)

Publish Date: April 15, 2019

To finish off the LCK Spring Split, it’s time to give out some more awards. This time around, awards given out are the “official awards”. If you missed the first part of the awards, you can check them out here!

Spring Split All-Pro Team

Taking the honor of being the all-pro top for the Spring Split is SKT’s Khan. While he had a rough time on the rare occasions that he had to play a tank, his play on carries more than made up for it. With the highest KDA among top laners at 4.1 Khan was a huge threat in every match on carry top laners like Vladamir and Fiora.

More often than not, Khan would simply dominate the game as he looked simply unstoppable. With his amazing performance throughout the split, it’s not hard to see how he’s the all-pro top for the Spring Split.

Jungler: Kim “Clid” Tae-min (SK Telecom T1)

With a season filled with amazing junglers, Clid comes out ahead of the pack. While other junglers struggled at parts of the season, Clid was consistently an amazing jungler that simply dominated every game. With a monstrous 75.5% kill participation in the regular season, Clid was a huge contributor to SKT’s success in gaining leads in the early game. With amazing performances on the likes of his signature Lee Sin, Clid comes out ahead and takes the honor of all-pro jungler for the 2019 Spring Split.

Mid: Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon (Griffin)

Despite an atrocious performance in the finals, Chovy’s performance through the regular season can’t be ignored. With the highest KDA of all players at 10.7 and the most MVP points at 1300, Chovy was by far one of the best players in the regular season. Along with the great stats, Chovy was able to thrive on a variety of champions including his always amazing Zoe.

While Chovy did struggle at times near the end of the regular season, his overall performance was simply too good to not land him in the all-pro team as the mid laner.

ADC: Park “Teddy” Jin-seong (SK Telecom T1)

Despite many amazing ADCs like Kim “PraY” Jong-in missing from play this split, the ADC position was still filled with amazing players. However, in the end, the best of them all remains to be Teddy. While many were worried that Teddy would lack the opportunity to shine on a star-filled SKT roster, he has actually been one of the most noticeable players on the team.

It’s not hard to realize why when Teddy has been lights out throughout the split on the likes of Ezreal and Lucian. With the most Kills among ADCs at 161 and an impressive KDA of 7.4 on top of that Teddy lands the all-pro ADC honors for the Spring Split.

Support: Park “TusiN” Jong-ik (Kingzone DragonX)

Out of all the roles, the top support players of the league were the closest in terms of performance. In the end, TusiN comes out just ahead of the others to take the spot of all-pro support. Throughout the season, TusiN had some great performances as he served as an enabler for ADC Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu in the early game, allowing him to take over and carry the game.

On top of that, TusiN was a great playmaker for Kingzone DragonX as he ended the regular season with an impressive 71.7% kill participation. As a result of his great play, TusiN is the all-pro support for the Spring Split.

Rookie of the Split: Kim “OnFleek” Jang-gyeom (SANDBOX Gaming)

With two new teams entering the Spring Split and a lot of roster changes, there were quite a few rookies in the league. In the end, the Rookie of the Split award goes to SANDBOX’s jungler OnFleek. While there were other amazing rookies like DAMWON Gaming’s Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon this split as well, most of them did struggle at points in the regular season. However, OnFleek was consistently one of the best junglers in the region for most of the season.

With an impressive 104 kills in the regular split and a KDA of 3.5, OnFleek was a solid playmaker for SANDBOX that played a key role in their victories. As a result of his consistent and solid play throughout the regular season, OnFleek takes the rookie of the split honors.

Coaching Staff of the Split: (SK Telecom T1)

While most coaching awards are usually given to a single individual, it felt wrong to do so in this case. Given how important the role of the entire coaching staff can be in Korea it felt only right to award the entire coaching staff for their great work this split. For the Spring Split, the award goes to the coaching staff of SKT.

While SKT struggled to perform and meet the expectations of themselves and fans alike, the team as a whole persevered in the end and looked like the team to beat at the end of the regular season. With experienced and veteran members like Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun around it’s not surprising to see why. Along with that, the drafting for SKT was simply amazing thanks in part to Lee “Zefa” Jae-min.

Overall, the coaching staff of SKT has been simply amazing this split and as such deserves to be recognized as the best coaching staff in the league.

Regular Season MVP: Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu (Kingzone DragonX)

While it may seem strange for the regular season to not even be the best player in their role, it makes total sense for Deft. While he may not have been the best ADC for the entire season, he was very close and likely would’ve made the second all-pro team. On top of that, Deft was by far the most important player for Kingzone DragonX as he was the main cause for a large part of the team’s early success.

Without Deft, Kingzone likely wouldn’t be a playoff caliber team. As a result of that and his overall amazing play during the regular season, Deft wins regular season MVP.
