IDDQD, Nomy and Dhak Released from San Francisco Shock

In a tweet posted on Wednesday, the San Francisco Shock announced the release of three players – Andre “iddqd” Dahlström, David “Nomy” Ramirez, and Daniel “dhaK” Martinez.

“Today we say goodbye to three amazing players, and even better people,” said the highlight-laden video. “You made history as part of the Shock’s inaugural season. Thank you.”

Nomy played main tank for the Shock until Matthew “Super” DeLisi took over the role when he turned 18. dhaK was replaced at main support by former Toronto Esports player Grant “moth” Espe in early March. IDDQD only played in the Shock’s last regular season game against the Shanghai Dragons – though his brief showing was one of the flashiest debuts in the history of the league.

The announcement comes just days before the beginning of the free agent signing period, which is set to get underway on September 9th. This move allows for other teams (new and old) to start scouting the three released players before the window opens officially, and gives the players the opportunity to make some moves of their own to show other teams what they’ve got.

Many speculate that other teams will announce similar releases in the days leading up to the free agent signing window. With six new teams and 70+ free spots waiting to be filled across the Overwatch League, these three should certainly find a home.

What do you think of this move? Where will these three end up? Who else will join them in this new (and surely growing) free agent pool? Be sure to let us know on Twitter @TGHEsports.
