It’s been a relatively quiet few weeks for the Houston Outlaws. Apart from sponsorship signings, Houston hasn’t made any moves since the beginning of Stage 1 and haven’t played yet in Stage 2. Due to this, it’s likely Houston will remain the same as they did in Stage 1. Furthermore, Houston may have a much more difficult Stage 2 than Stage 1, especially starting the stage against Stage 1 champions, the Vancouver Titans.
Preview for the Week
Vancouver Titans (8-0)
Beginning Stage 2 by playing against the undefeated Vancouver Titans will be undoubtedly massive mountain for the Houston Outlaws to climb.
The Titans are lead by Hyojong “Haksal” Kim, the best bridgette in the league and Sang-beom “Bumper” Park, one of the best, if not the best main tank in the world. The Vancouver Titans absolutely steamrolled the Hangzhou Spark with a 4-0 victory, where the Outlaw got a convincing, yet challenging 3-1 win.
It’s clear that Houston needs to play their absolute best and have worked out a number of issues in the off season such as mismanaging ultimates, spacing / positioning and communication. Furthermore, Houston need to play more off-meta heroes to counter the Titan’s deep hero pool and their skill playing the current, 3 tank – 3 support meta.
Prediction: Vancouver Titans take the victory 3-1.
Player to Watch
Dante “Danteh” Cruz
Danteh is the rock the Houston can build all of their success from. Whenever he plays Sombra and gets his ultimate, Houston’s odds of winning team fights goes up drastically. It’s absolutely crucial for the Outlaws to allow Danteh to get the opportunity to play Sombra and put Alexandre “SPREE” Vanhomwegen onto the Sombra for the the team to squeak out a win. If Houston put together all of the pieces in the off-season and play a perfect game, they may just come out with a win.
