Reeling from a tough loss to the Atlanta Reign 4-0, the Florida Mayhem have to make up some ground this week with their two matches; Thursday against the Philadelphia Fusion and Saturday against the Chengdu Hunters. Can the Mayhem bring it back and showcase their talent, or will they fall short like Week 1? Here is the Stage 1 Week 2 Preview for the Florida Mayhem.
Two teams with new definitions of new met up this weekend. For Atlanta it was their first ever game in the Overwatch League for Florida it was their first game with an entirely new roster. While it would seem close at first, the game would quickly slip away from the Mayhem. In a meta where GOATs is still king, Florida seemed to struggle and were surprised when picks like Torb were made on Ilios. Overall there were times when the Mayhem looked cohesive but it is clear that after a 4-0 loss, to a solid team albeit, Florida have their work cut out for them.
With every map however, the Mayhem began to show their true colors. Volskaya Industries was an amazing display of the roster’s talent, and they almost could have taken the map. On Hollywood, Kevyn “TviQ” Lindstrom showed us the moves that made him famous. With his classic Pharah, TviQ scored an amazing Barrage onto the weakened Reign defenses.
Sang-bum “BQB” Lee is a hitscan specialist and clearly showed that he can dish out some damage this weekend. His skills on Zarya are improving, and show promise to the Flex role he can fill. BQB was sneaking around the enemy backline waiting to pop the perfect EMP, and shut out the lights on any enemies in his way. Currently he is rank 15 in average damage per 10 minutes in the league.

The Philadelphia Fusion came blasting out of the gates on Thursday night, and it was revenge they were seeking. After a tough loss at the Grand Finals last season at the hands of the London Spitfire, the Fusion were looking to even the score and they definitely delivered. Handing the Spitfire their first loss of the season 3-1, the Fusion turned their sights to the Atlanta Reign, fresh off their stunning 4-0 victory over the Florida Mayhem on Friday night. Both teams were neck and neck throughout the series, but in the end the Fusion took control of Ilios to take the win from the Reign.
This week, they face off against the Florida Mayhem, and show no signs of slowing down. The Mayhem have an uphill battle to fight if they want to claim their first win of the season.

The Chengdu Hunters made their Season 2 debut last week against the Guangzhou Charge, looking to prove themselves in the opening week. With a close 3-2 victory over the Charge, the Hunters made it clear they were looking for a fight. Their next matchup is in Week 2 against the Florida Mayhem. Both teams are underdogs coming into Season 2, with the Mayhem looking to fix the problems of last season and the Hunters looking to establish themselves as a playoffs contender in their first season. For the Hunters, this match could mean a second victory. For the Mayhem, this match could be their first win of the season. It is sure to be a close match, as both teams have equally talented rosters, but also may suffer from underwhelming personal performances or communication issues on stage.

His signature Zarya plays are the stuff of legend, redefining what it means to play her. He will be key for the Hunters in their matchup against Florida this weekend.
This week is an uphill battle for the Mayhem; as they face off with The Philadelphia Fusion and the Chengdu Hunters. Will the Mayhem send the Fusion back to The City of Brotherly Love with their first loss? Which underdog will be victorious when the Sunshine State meets the Eastern Hunters? This week is sure to be an exciting one, so stay tuned for all the action.
