The Los Angeles Thieves defeated the Atlanta FaZe on Sunday in the grand final of the CDL Championship. Making it the first world championship in the Thieves organization. After having struggles throughout the year, the LA Thieves figured it out at the right time and solidified themselves as the best team in the game.

The LA Thieves looked incredible this weekend.
After their victory at Major 4, the LA Thieves skyrocketed themselves into the winner’s bracket, drawing the Boston Breach in the first round. In all honesty, this was their toughest matchup of the weekend. It was back and forth, but ultimately the LA Thieves pulled out the narrow victory in a game five-round 11 SND match.
Heading into the match, fans were split on who would come out on top. Both teams came off of tough games, but with the talent OpTic has, it seemed they may have been the favorite in eyes of fans. However, it was all LA Thieves from map one. After defeating OpTic 250-58 in map one Hardpoint, they continued their dominance by beating them in the following SND and Control. Having outslayed the talented OpTic team, it gave the Thieves a huge momentum boost heading into their next match against FaZe.
After defeating the Seattle Surge, the Atlanta FaZe were the next opponent the Thieves needed to get by. At the previous Major 4, LA seemed to have their number, which continued this weekend. After dropping the first map, the Thieves went on to win three straight to secure their spot in the grand finals on Sunday.
Unfortunately, it won’t be the last time they will see Atlanta FaZe.
This series was all about the LA Thieves and their dominance at the end of the year. Heading into the grand finals on Sunday, fans were still debating on who would take the trophy home. But it was clear who the stronger team was that day. The Thieves stormed to a quick 4-0 map count lead, but against the Atlanta FaZe, anything could happen.
After dropping the next SND and Control maps, it seemed like Atlanta would rally a comeback like they usually do in these situations. But this one was different, heading in Tuscan SND the LA Thieves clutched up in a round 11 to defeat the untouchable Atlanta FaZe squad and secure their status as the 2022 CDL World Champions.
