The Chicago Huntsmen’s Keys to Success in London

Publish Date: February 2, 2020

With the London event for the CDL a week away teams prepare to kick off the new tournament format on a strong note. The Chicago Huntsmen proved they are a force to be reckoned with in Minnesota and are looking to build on their success.

Win Map One

Winning the opening hardpoint will be paramount to building confidence for the Huntsmen. Although it is not crucial, winning map one helps give a cushion heading into the rest of the series. The new structure of the league this year leads to further complications when a team loses map one. With the ability to sub players in and out, this creates potential roster changes which complicates the flow and chemistry of the match.

London is notorious for bringing an abundance of energy and noise to the event. Given some of the fan favorites on the Chicago Huntsmen’s roster, it can be easy to have the crowd on their side. To give the team a competitive advantage, Chicago needs to get a feel for the crowd’s pulse and bring the same energy from Minneapolis, particularly similar to their game against the Dallas Empire.

Constant Communication

To ensure the placement the Huntsmen are seeking the team needs to consistently communicate throughout matches. Many players in the CDL have talked about when things go wrong sometimes in matches it is due to a breakdown in communication. Last weekend when Chicago played OGLA, they held a comfortable lead in Domination which quickly evaporated creating a very close map 3. After the match, Seth “Scump” Abner admitted that the team let off the gas and needed to focus more. Constant communication will ensure Chicago does not lose focus or ease up during any point in their upcoming matches in London.
