Call of Duty: Teams to Watch Going into CWL Fort Worth

With CWL Fort Worth just 10 days away, Competitive fans are starting to speculate who will be challenging for the trophy, and potential underdogs to watch for. Join us as we break down the top teams to keep your eye on during CWL Fort Worth.

One of the clear favourites for the title is current Major champions OpTic Gaming. Only dropping four maps over the course of CWL Las Vegas, OpTic were overwhelming favourites going into Division play for the Pro League. Complications for Las Vegas’ MVP Brandon ‘Dashy’ Otell’s VISA, however, left OpTic in a sticky situation, forcing substitute Thomas ‘ZooMaa’ Paparatto to step in last minute. A respectable 4-3 record left the squad third in the Division, but many GreenWall fans are keen to see how the squad stacks up with Dashy back on board. With a monster 1.44 Kill/Death ratio in his first Professional tournament win, OpTic Gaming fans will be excited to see his return, as well as a winning return for OpTic. With Las Vegas runners up also in their Pool, OpTic will have stiff competition from the outset.

100 Thieves

A team with many critics, 100 Thieves seemed to finally end their inconsistency with a Division-topping 5-2 record in the Pro League. New pickup Preston ‘Priestahh’ Greiner has hit the ground running, with a fourth highest K/D of 1.22 during Division play. New coach James ‘Crowder’ Crowder has brought an air of calm into what was previously an unsettled squad. With powerhouse players such as former World Champion Austin ‘SlasheR’ Liddicoat on the roster, it was always unwise to count 100T out, but their newfound form is a worrying site for their fellow competitors. If 100 Thieves can start closing Game Five Search and Destroys, which they failed to do in the Pro League, this squad can certainly be a contender for the Championship. With a favourable Pool, 100 Thieves could comfortably find themselves in Bracket Play, where they have to show they have the clutch factor.

Team Heretics

Quickly becoming fan favourites, this Spanish lineup came into Division play on fire, finishing with a joint-best 5-2 record. Only finishing third due to Map Win Percentage, it was a very strong performance for Heretics, who have now established themselves as one of the most entertaining teams in the game. Recognisable for their aggressive and impressive gun skill, the players on this squad can win 1v1s against the best players in the League. With players like Juan Antonio ‘JurNii’ González putting up numbers like 1.12 in terms of K/D, Heretics will be looking to carry this momentum going into Fort Worth.

Gen.G

If there’s a team we can’t forget as CWL Fort Worth approaches, it’s Division A leaders Gen.G. This squad has forced teams to take note with their sensational Search and Destroy performances, with a perfect 9-0 record in Division play. Forming two of the five map series, you can count on Gen.G to take you all the way, with four of the five players on the team in the top six for Search and Destroy K/D. At the same time, it’s important not to understate their slaying performances, with ICR player Chance ‘Maux’ Moncivaez finishing second in the League with a 1.23 K/D. Gen.G will be looking to improve on their 7/8^th finish at CWL Las Vegas, and with their performances only improving, momentum is on their side going into Fort Worth. Matched in the same Pool as Heretics, all eyes will be on Pool A from the beginning.
