OpTic Gaming LA: A Look at the Bench

The Atlanta home series proved to be another disappointing event for OpTic Gaming LA. The team won one map the whole weekend and were not very competitive. A performance like this has left fans wondering if the team needs a change to the starting roster. Here is a look at some potential replacements from the bench before the LA home series on March 7th.

Martin “Chino” Chino

Chino is a fan favorite with a long history of playing competitive Call of Duty. Chino sports a lovable personality and has made a lot of friends throughout his career. His best performances were with Team Kaliber in 2017 and 2018 as the underdogs played well against top talent nearly every event. Kenny played alongside Chino on that roster and they became a popular duo in the Call of Duty scene. Chino’s talent and chemistry advantages make him a very strong candidate for an appearance at the Los Angeles home series.

Jevon “Goonjar” Gooljar-Lim

Goonjar is another long time pro in the Call of Duty scene. He made his name playing for Team Kaliber in 2013 where he consistently placed top 8 every event. In 2019, Goonjar placed well with Evil Geniuses before becoming a substitute for OpTic Gaming LA. Goonjar does not have a history with the current OpTic roster and has not made much of a splash in recent years. However, do not count him out of the conversation for the starting five at the LA home series.

Chino has the best case for making a start on March 7th alongside old teammate Kenny. Players like TJHaly and JKap did not play as expected for the second event in a row and OpTic is searching for answers to their slow start. Chino could be that silver lining that OpTic is desperately looking for next month in Los Angeles.
