Minnesota Rokkr: Which Individual Matchup will be the Best Against Seattle?

Publish Date: March 7, 2020

The Minnesota Rokkr head to the sun-soaked city of Los Angeles to take on the Seattle Surge in their first match of the home series. They played very well in Atlanta, reaching the semi-finals, losing to the eventual champion Atlanta FaZe.

There are players on both teams who can light up the stat sheet. The Rokkr alone have so much depth that it’s hard to decide who can have a dominant performance.

As shown in the first few weeks of the Call of Duty League; anything is possible out there. Some players have surprised and played extremely well and some were expected.

The same goes for teams as well. Squads like the Florida Mutineers and Paris Legion have impressed this season, with Florida reaching the finals in Atlanta.

So, for the battle between the Rokkr and Surge, which matchup will be best? Who are the two players who can put on a show? Anyone can shine in the CDL but one matchup stands out.

Octane vs. Assault

Minnesota Rokkr

This could be the matchup of the game with two top tier talents battling it out on Saturday. It would be the battle of two former Call of Duty World League (CWL) MVPs.

Octane won the 2017 CWL Anaheim Open, 2018 Northern Area Showdown and CWL London in 2019 where he was MVP in all three events. Assault meanwhile earned the 2018 MVP award in the CWL World Championship for a dominant performance which included a 1.23 K/D.

Not only that, but they are both AR players, so they both could be evenly matched going in. It’s easy to expect these two to go blow for blow on Saturday afternoon.

Maybe the most interesting thing that stands is that they both rank in the top 10 in the CDL in K/D. Octane has the edge in this, with a 1.29 ratio, placing him fourth in the league.

However, Assault is not too far from him, with a very solid 1.19 K/D, putting him in seventh in the league. This, all while a couple of other teammates are having terrific seasons.

The fact that he still is putting up big numbers while his squad shines is pretty remarkable. Usually, if there are a couple of other players on a team lighting it up, it can make it hard for one player to dominate.

However things turn out, it should be quite a show. In particular, Domination should be a treat, because both teams are identical in how great they are in the mode.

The Surge have a slight edge, but the Rokkr are still good. If both of these dudes get hot at the same time, then it’s going to be a Fourth of July celebration in March.
